    92 Mtech cabrio...with Tesla power

I’m undecided how much effort I really want to put into a build thread, but here’s a few pics. I post for more regularly on instagram, so follow jon_volk if you want to see more.

Car was LS powered, but wanted to try something new.

Short version is a Tesla large drive unit, open source logic board, and two Chevy Volt battery packs

At 1200 amps, a bit over 500 should be close.

I hope your license plate doesn’t turn out to be prophetic.

All kidding aside, this looks like an amazing idea. Can’t wait to see the outcome.

The plate is universally applicable to all my project cars it has lived on.

Jesus Christ, I'm high-voltage and hybrid certified from BMW and that scares me. But I'm also very excited. And watching the shit out of this thread.

I’ve always wondered if this could be done, it would be nice to drive around an electric classic car. Good luck sir!

Mate Rimac built his electric e30 over 10 years ago and ran 11’s with it. It’s all just parts and knowledge, but it’s so much more involved than a regular swap that barely anyone does it.

Don't forget that BMW itself has also been building electric cars for over 45 years (starting with a 1602 electric prototype in 1972). BMW has built electric versions as prototypes for every generation since, well before the 'i' division, and no Tesla is not light years ahead.

Here's the factory electric e30 (built in collaboration with ABB - ie. the main sponsor of Formula E). Looking forward to how the project here progresses!
