how big of a PIA was it to ship the car back to germany, and what do the inspectors look for? im thinking about transferring to the Deutsche Flugsicherung in a year or two. Thanks
Nice, i like the flat black rockers and connecting the flares to them idea.
Yeah, i'm going to try to get that done this week. I'm picking up a brand new OEM 318is lip to finish off the front on tuesday.

Hey how did you do the sunroof delete? I've taken everything out except where the track used to be, so now I have this random bucket.

Nice... have fun and post pics tearing it up!8)
I'll try! i noticed at the auto-x this weekend that the coolant was erratic, which worries me. So i'm hopping to replace the thermostat and fan clutch this week before the full weekend at the nurburgring.
here is my bad attempt at an action shot

How close did you cut to the roof?
I never cut the roof, but if you look up the thread you can see the inside of the roof area. i just used a $19 grinder to cut away at the sunroof tray. To get the sunroof plug in i used some crazy german bonding agent, then black silicone on the top to make it look pretty.

Looks like an awesome project! Is you dash flocked? Looks good.
yup, flocked. totally unecessary expense, especially since it's already starting to wear. But i like it, it's different.
So Saturday my buddy and i went to the drag races at bitburg air base. they had a little slolam course (auto-x) set up. By the end of the day i was the 2nd fastest time of the day, only being beat buy the course organizer who runs an old opel that is a dedicated auto-x car. it was a pretty fun day, the only real bummer is that i paid for two days at this event, but i had already planned/paid to go cave rappelling in luxembourg.
As you can see in the top gear esk picture below, the weather was threatning all day, but the water stayed up in the skies ;)
and i thought this was kind of cool. a before and after...
