Was that the first accident that cars been in? The worst part about accidents(besides bodily harm/death) is the loss of the originality of the car. Once its been wrecked then painted it looses so much. No matter how well they fix it, its never the same. Explain that to the insurance company. I see a car with all original paint as amazing. So many cars are wrecked and misrepaired.
Either way good luck with the whole ordeal.

+2 It is easy for an Insurance company to overlook the value of an unmolested car, especially a non matching vin# car...

Holy shit Brandon. I can't believe I didn't see you posted this shit earlier. I am so unbelievably sorry about what has happened. I absolutely love your car. Just remember that German Auto is in Denham and you can get parts there. Show them pictures and let them know what has happened and I'm sure Reagan and Brian will cut you a good deal on replacing those parts.
I know you have been working very hard on getting your car back on the road and we all know that it hasn't been for naught. She will breath fire again. When you talk to the insurance company(ies) make sure you let them know what all you have done to it and show them pictures of it. Please get a lawyer to help you. You don't want to deal with having to go after the insurance companies and still deal with your car all at the same time. A lawyer may be pricey (especially here in Louisiana) but it will help you tremendously.
I am driving down to BR tomorrow and if you want, we can go and light the fucker on fire and watch him burn.
Well after talking to my mom and dad, we will be going to go talk to a lwayer sometine next week after i pick up the police report (which takes 10 days). So i will most deffinately be fighting this, and making that stupid ass fuck pay for it. I have a feeling it is going to be A LOT of money. I am still unsure if my suspension is ok... HOPING IT IS.
But the plans for the car are...
1. Remove all broken pieces
2. Pull motor and prep engine bay for respray.
3. Buy an s50!? (most likely, :D )
4. Fix bent suspension pieces.
5. Strip interior out ( for respray purposes, i love seeing a clean painted car on the inside)
6. Sand car myself , and prep for body work / new paint.
7. Get a sick weld in cage (paint it glow in the dark!)
8. Make the stupid fucker pay for all of it.
holy shit, even with the damages i still think your car looks amazinng. dui is the single stupidest shit evar. brinng her back... BRINNG HERRRR BAKKKK!! AGAINN.
ah, the infamous rear end law, i am getting shafted with it too. i can't believe the shit insurance companies will say to get out of paying. i can only wish you better luck than what i have. i've been driving around a wrecked e30 since christmas eve..
I hate to say this but because of the fact that you were involved in a rear end accident you're probably screwed. Legally speaking you're at fault because you rear ended him, unfortunately the circumstances under which the accident ocurred won't change that. Good luck.

Yeah, thats what i hate.. BUT i am still getting a lawyer to fight it anyway because Louisiana is VERY strict with alcohol and related issues. So hopefully because of that, i can pull out a win in the court room for this situation.
Brandon....what all do you have done to the motor? was it just a straight stock swap?
Drop me a line on here or on SnI and let me know if you need a hand doing any of the prep/gutting.

1.) Bummer about the car. Glad you're OK.
2.) Don't worry about the blame assessed to you over front end damage. If they went and found this guy after your accident, and charged him with DUI, then he has to beat that rap in order for you to even see a hint of a charge on you to stick for the accident. I used to do ride-alongs with the local medics to keep my EMT cert., and one call in particular was a motor vehicle accident between a sober citizen and a drunk(by breathalizer standards) OFF-DUTY COP. Despite the fact the sober citizen was the cause of the wreck, the cop was charged with DUI, and that automatically puts you at fault in WA.
How often do you see a cop willing to charge his own brother like that unless pinned to the wall? It didn't need to be said that evening, but if a cop pulled over another drunk cop from the same district, I highly doubt there would be a DUI charge - just lock up the car, and I'll give you a quick ride home. But you get involved in a wreck, and more than a single cop shows up, whatcha gonna do?
Cop in question plead down his DUI to Neg 1st degree, which is "insurance code" for a DUI, since you never get Neg 1 in WA for any other reason. He was able to keep his job as a cop since he didn't technically get charged for DUI. He got a real DUI within a year when he was lit up by another district's police, who he tried to run from, doing triple digits in the chase from what the local rag said. Needless to say, he ain't even a dog catcher in Skagit County today.
3.) Your energy to rebuild is great, but don't move faster than you need to get the full money. Don't go stripping body panels until all sides who need to collect evidence have their chance. Sometimes in haste you step on your own dick. Don't step over dollars to pick up a dime.
It's not how you handle the good times, but the faith you keep in the bad that defines you.
