That's what I'm saying? Mine is white, but looks just as good after a good polish and wax.. I mean, c'mon now. I've spend 20k on this car, gimme a break.

he polished that thing so long that he broke into the red paint again what a waist of time----
cheap asses. just do it right, it costs a little more, and takes a few hours VS> a few weeks. and I doubt that that roller paint is going to hold up like automotive paint for a long period of time.

I love the turbo M30 though!!!! awesome!

I'm tuning it with a couple things: AFM spring tensioning and RRFPR.
I'm measuring it with a couple of things: Boost gauge and Fuel pressure gauge (100psi). I hope that's enough to tune it to a reasonable efficiency so i can take it to a dyno.

I don't see the red in the paint, but the question of holding up, thats been addressed:

For cliffnotes: after about 7 months and lotsa miles it held up just fine.

Look at the corner of the hood by the bottom headlight.

7 months isn't long enough to judge how good its going to last. A good paint job should last decades.

I take it this is not smog approved? Or does the TCD kit some with a sticker?
                    Ok, clearances:

The turbo hangs low underneath the manifold, so it is literally 1/2" from the stud on my poly motor mount. I had it all installed, THEN installed my custom pass. motor mount bracket which TCD has supplied. it was tight, but fits nicely.

I have no upper clearances and since the AFM is not on the top of the motor, there is no clearance problem on the top of the engine to the hood anymore. I tried to install it with as much shit to the back of the engine bay as possible, so i'm glad i went with a kit that has the turbo on the lower rear of the engine bay rather than the upper front (upside down mount), although it would have been much more accessable, it would have been detrimental to the handling characterisitcs of the car.

For fuel, the kit came with a billet RRFPR tunable by a little needle. I have to learn all about tuning, i'm really a novice at it. How does one tune the AFM? i hear something about clicks of a spring?
I have a fuel pressure gauge that I need to install still.

I turned the car on for about 1minute and it is really smokey! What does that mean? too rich?

You will have to talk to todd about being smog approved, I highly doubt it is unfortunately. Any more questions, just ask, or PM me if you are really getting serious about getting a kit. good luck!

The $3k for the kit is too rich for my blood these days.

I wish you could peice together a kit like the m20 guys do. I think I saw that 666 fabracation is making a m30 header for turbos these days - That is kinda the key peice to doing any turbo...

Gosh, I need to freaking learn how to weld....

As far as my experience with difs goes- My M3 with euro dogleg is 1 to 1 trans ratio. it is stock 3.25 -- I had it honestly on a down hill on the german autobahn doing 265/270kmh at about 8700rpms. It was F***in scary, car was blowing all over the road!!!!!
I traded it out for 3,64 and now it is at 220kmh at 7000rpm-- more than perfect for me, I dont care to take the car to too high of speeds but for short sprints nowadays.
I also know someone else here that has a euro trans in his m3 and is running a 3,91 in it. it seems WAY to short in 1st gear for me to be worth it, but he can still pull on me like crazy at the 120 mph range.
but the M3s S14 can rev higher, so...
now, I know that my old M20 car with the overdrive bounced off the rev limiter at 225 at 6700 rpm.
In the states, I dont imagine your going to be doing too much HIGH speed driving, so i would set it up for the take off.
I would think the 3,73 would be great, but thats just me.

never mind the "ring that is hanging off, it was fixed after the pic.

I think I want to add chrome guage rings, but it would suck if they kept falling off. I want to add the AC pedals and a nice subtle chrome and black shift knob/ebrake lever. I think itll really update the interior nicely. I cant stand the cheap plasticy knob Ive got in there now.
