I've noticed this on a couple of my old cars. Anyone know why they are designed like that?
from my understanding its to help with the way the car drives. helps it track down the road better.

You can use this simple calculator to figure it all out.

they are definitely undersized compared to stock, but it works because they are wide enough for the wheels. in fact I think they look just about perfect on there, like that tire was made to fit the wheel, which is why I think I like it. they aren't 195/40-16 or some BS like that stretched onto a 16x9.

they also fill out the fenders very well, there's nothing worse to me than a car with wheels 2" inside the fenders, and a 1" gap over the rear wheels..

                Two quick questions:

                1) Is the tire size indeed 215/40/16? I can't find those tires in that size on tirerack.

                2) How is the clearance of these wheels against the brake calipers? Can you possibly take a picture with a piece of measureing tape against the caliper so I can see how much room there is? I would really appreciate it if you could :)

As time went on, the factory developed the car each year, making it faster, more comfortable, and capable of handling at higher speeds.
You don’t want this. You want the trickiest, most dangerous, oldest model you can find. Only then can you prove to the world that you’re a man.
