    Trust me, I've been there, had that attitude, and it's lame. Act humble, be mature, and don't be such a little prick to everyone. It's really unbecoming... If you wan't be helpful, give suggestions without alluding to underlying information.

    But hey, what do I know... and you won't listen until you're 22+ years old anyways.

      on topic:

      So i plumbed the air temp sensor for the a/n. I was nervous to drill into the CF but I was told that i would be just fin, so i got out thedremmel and got after it.
      Pilot hole with dremel

      drilled out to spec

      tapped

      and instaled



      Secondly I made a crude bracket for the brake fluid resevoir


      And now I found this piece of hosing in my garage to use to help splice a few different hoses together as will have to take care of to re-route to the new holes on the CF box


      This piece is going to be invaluable to making this work.

      Finally - I added the sticker to the box:)


      This weekend more will take place - likely on the paint side. Have fun at the picnic guys!

          Wish i was comming too guys - but with finals and the car clearly not being roadworthy it just isn't happening. It will be a different story in 08' for many reasons!

          And stickers can be changed! I have something else in the works but this is temporary.

            Yeah its tough drilling the beautiful snorkel eh? Im glad I wasnt around. Youre crude thing for the fluid reservoir looks much better than mine.

                minor work completed recently... with much more in store soon that will be more noticeable.

                First - put the body back together so that it will be driveable to get it tuned enough to go to a paint shop under its own power. Before/after:

                the interior mess as I found it:

                FINALLY got the wiring finished up with the help from a friend of mine:


                I still have to "finish" the wiring with some shrink wrap and other protective stuff; but it's done.

                So I then went to prepare to finish up the airbox, and we ran into a problem. I got the box to fit on the TB's, but now it's contacting the brake master cylinder. This is preventing the airbox from properly seating on the TB's. So either the BMC is not sitting properly (doubtfull), the fact that I have a 25mm MC is a problem, or if the trumpets are simply too long. I'm a bit perplexed by this as the motor is brand new (less than 1200 miles) and done with all factory parts (that would impact the mounting of this part). Also, all of the stock parts fit perfectly, so I see no reason why this shouldn't fit as well.

                How the engine bay was left:


                I have on order a air/oil seperation bottle that will allow me to vent the crank case vapors straight to the canister as opposed to being sucked back into the motor (reduce detonation).

                My buddy also is helping me mock up my engine bay to ultimately built new fluid reseviors out of AL that will sit on an AL bracket that mounts where the AFM used to be. I want to do all of my rounting for the PWS fluid, brake fluid, and oil filter relocatoin with braided line/AN fitting... but we will see how that goes cost wise. Some stuff my just be good rubber/reinforced hosing in areas where heat/pressure is not a major concern.

                Bottle should be here soon... still awaiting a reply from the airbox supplier on what I will need to do/replace/return/ect.

                  Search MAXX threads on S14.net.
                  Once you get through all the crap, I think it's a common issue. Most end up changing motor mounts to prevent rubbing on either the brake MS, or the hood.

                    Taller motor mounts? They certainly cannot go lower... and from what I understand the 740 mounts actually lower the motor... Jake has like 2 inches of clearance on his so I cannot see what the problem is with mine.

                      I'm betting it's the larger MC thats the problem. I do not have any contact issues with the stock MC with John's airbox, but it does have slight contact the hood. I'm going to use the lower 740i mounts to solve that issue.

                        Possible... I will check into it tonight by measuring the MC's... but as I recall there is zero difference in the size of the casting for the two MC's. The difference is a two mm large cylinder.... the only way you can tell the difference between the two is the number stamped on the top of the MC.

                            OK... so, got the box to fit by shimming the driver side motor mount slightly.

                            Now I have lots of empty space up front for my bracket that will hold the fluids/ air/oil seperator, and the oil filter relocation kit. I'm also seeing if BMW makes a cover for under the steering column that doesn't have a hole in it for the cruise control (I would guess an early 318i might not have it or something). At next update hopefully will have:
                            -bracket made
                            -oil filter relocation complete
                            -box on
                            -interior buttoned up

                            just waiting for parts to arrive! Although it doesn't look like it, this project is finally starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. This thing should really start taking shape next week.

                              My 84 325 does not have a hole for the cruise control.

                              Everything looks like its coming together at a decent, keep tooling man.

                                My 87 e doesn't have cruise as well. Keep moving on it. I want to actually see this car at the picnic this year. If its in primer I don't care...
