Care to elaborate on the avoidance of PPG? I'm not in the paint industry, but I was thinking they were going to be in my DS respray budget, since the next step up sounded like DuPont, and it was a pretty large jump.
If PPG has fallen from where they were in the industry ~10 years ago, I'd need to hear it, I was comfortable shooting & spending $$$ it cost then, but if it's changed - spill it, man.
Looks sharp, BTW.
It's not how you handle the good times, but the faith you keep in the bad that defines you.

We sprayed 2 test sections, one with PPG, one with Sikkens. Same time, same conditions, etc.
The Sikkens looked like it was "finished" after just laying down the base coat. PPG definitely looked like it needed more work/clear.
The paint tech has been doing this work for 30+ years, back when base/clear wasn't even legit and everything was single stage. He recently sold his own business and now works for us.
The PPG color match according to the Paint code on the body wasn't even close to the OEM paint either.
I'm no "know all god" of paint info. I'm only sharing my own experiences. Also, as most people should know, to an extent paint is only as good as the person applying it, and the conditions its applied in.
Fred,
Its an Erebruni kit. Its not a 323i either, its a 316 with a carb'd m10.
I don't think I would order PPG again either. I'm not sure how well it matched the OEM color (mine may be faded, but I doubt it somehow), but the stuff I got was like 60% clear... it made getting any good build of color down nearly impossible. My painter hated me for that :p
how much does sikkens cost in comparo to PPG? would dupont be better? I decided I'm just going to do the whole car myself, I just don't trust "professionals" anymore..
Lets list all the things that the car still needs... 1....2....3....GO!
Lookin good!
Needs:
1. Thick, lingerie-clad model draped over hood.
2. S2.79 diff for the fuel economy. :loco:
3. BBS RS 16x8 ET11. Seriously. Mesh wheels for life. OBEY!

I was thinking more along the lines of:
Cpillar trim install
Rear roof lip trim install
;)
RS' won't ever be on this car. Not my "style".
Better/real photos sometime after this weekend.
