I have a piece of round brass stock that I just put on the top and wack the shit out of it with a large hammer. The brass is softer than the steel so it doesnt mess up the threads. You have to get creative positioning it though.

Hmm... I removed the exhaust, not the headers though, and you're right.. getting positioning is still tough. I'll have to experiment a little. What a pain in the ass.
