    My Brother's Summer Restoration Project

My brother, Josh, and I have been spending the past few weekends and a couple Thursdays slowly rebuilding my brother's 1989 325i.

We didn't plan on starting the project so soon but when his water pump went out we decided to get an early start.

Everything pictured is leading up to how far we got this past weekend. Hopefull it will be finished and fired up by this weekend.

    1989 325i MT2/4dr

My life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather i will skid in broadside, thoroughly used up,totally worn out and loudly proclaiming....WOW..What a ride!

Actually they are the 2nd gen Budget Beater stainless long tube headers, which I must admit are a pretty damn good deal for $260 shipped. My only complaint was that I had to grind down and polish the welds on the inside of one of the headers because they were too thick.

As far as modifications here is everything I can remember.

                Engine
                New valve guides / seals
                5 Angle Valve Grind
                Aggressive Porting on intake side
Aggressive Port and Polish on Exhaust side
Port matched Intake Manifold / Gaskets
                Metric Blue Head Bolts
                Every gasket reaplced
                Every hose replaced
                Every belt replaced
                Every seal reaplced
                M30 AFM
                17.5# Injectors
Spal 2.05 Inch 1300CFM Electric Fan
                AKG Urethane Engine Mounts

                Exhaust
                2nd Gen. BB Headers
(Rest of Exhaust Setup is Undecided)

                Suspension

New Sachs Pressure Plate & TO Bearing

It makes so much sense to paint the engine compartment black! I have been planning this for both of my cars when they get painted... it looks bad ass, is easily touched up, it's just so hardcore. Nice work!

Did you paint the engine bay while you had everything out?

Yeah.. we degreased everything, pressure washed it, scoured the finish and then painted it some black semi gloss Duplicolor 500 degree high temp rattle can paint.
