    What's up people.

I ran the car at Road Atlanta his weekend with NASA-SE and i'm extremely happy with how it performed considering how quick i built it up and how much more work needs to be done. i was running 1:55 consistently all day, both days. The front runners in SpecE30 were running 1:47ish.

I'll backtrack a few days and let you know what I ended up with as far as alignment goes.

Left and Right Front Camber -1* (PROBLEM!)
Left and Right Front Caster 6*
    Left Rear Camber -2*
    toed-in 1/16"
    Right Rear Camber +2* (PROBLEM!)
    toed-in 1/16"

The front has more room for more camber, but the spring perches are hitting the strut tower. I'm going to consult IE tomorrow about running a coil-over up front with a smaller diameter spring to get some more adjustability out of the corner weights/height and camber.

The right rear trailing arm must be bent. I'm going to pull the arm off and check all the angles on it compared to the other side and bend it right at the hub to have the necessary camber.

umm... the belts i had in my audi tt. i don't remember where i bought them though.

That's all... i have a few more pictures i'll post in a few.

here's a pic i snapped this weekend. disregard the taped numbers... stickers were the last thing on my list. it'll be getting full stickers soon enough.

if i find any pictures of it on the track i'll post those up too.

          thanks.

i just looked through 500ish photos that were taken at the nasa event and not even one had my car in it.

eh. i'll bust out my camera for a proper photoshoot i suppose.

i just registered for a drift event and cordele, ga for september 2nd... anyone planning on going to it? sccadrift.com is hosting it.

if anyone has any tips on drifting a stock motor'd e30, i'll gladly take them... tire selection is a big question for me. do i use my r-comps or should i use street tires? etc. etc. etc.

i drift the e30 on a stock M20. full feetwork though. Tips: throw the car around and keep the pedal down, lift on weight transfers half way, back on throttle 100% watch out for rear camber it chews through tires.

as far as tires. when i drift a lot i eat junkyard tires b/c they're $8/pop for me. At events, i run sumitomo htr-200s [205-55-14 on basketweves] which are $45/e new at tirerack (lol), last a LOT, smoke like crazy and are sucky on the grip department. its not something you wanna run on HPDE's. don't use you're r-comps u crazy?!
            No more e30s for me.

thanks a ton for the tips. when you say full fleetwork, what do you mean by that?

i may pick up some kumho ecstas at 56 bucks a pop to mount on my z3 wheels to drift with. the tires i have on there are the major suck fest right now.

would i want to possibly use my comps on the front wheels for more traction or just stick with the street tires on the z3 wheels?

by that i mean all bushings except sway bars, good suspension setup, 4.10lsd and e36 rack. maybe i'll add a rear sway bar but i don't think i need it. i love my setup

ecstas on Z3 rims and stock engine will be tough, all i can tell you is to maintain speed&momentum and throw your weight around violently. practice is the only way don't liste to me ;)

oh and nice drifting etxxz... i'll have my buddy take some video of me down in cordele when i go drifting for the first time. should be pretty sweet and comical.

                    Well, update time:

I ordered bilstein sports all the way around, get this for a 318ti. weird. i know. but it will work.

i also ordered the 2.5" diameter racing springs from IE and the coilover kit for the front. corner weight adjustability FTW.

I'll be installing them on wednesday probably, should be pretty sweet.

I also need to put a new steering pump on, at the track it went out and i only have power steering when i rev above 2500 rpms... any pointers or better pump to install?

EDIT: Mods, can you change the thread title to "325is track car"

I found some pics from the drift event the other weekend.

but for some reason, i'm not sideways in any of them, except for one. and i was spinning out. oh well... here they are:

It looks like your BBS track wheels are E30M3/5-series/7-series offset. if you get some e36 offset wheels you should be able to stuff some much wider rubber under there.

I like this guy. He does it all; works on his own car, drives it hard, and posts pictures of himself ACTUALLY doing it!

Great build-up and post-track event follow ups! Subscribed.

Edge Racing has these Hankooks for $57 a piece. Also on ebay you can check for random sales on this size. I believe a lot of S14 240sx guys run this size tire stock, don't quote me on it though.

If you want to get slide really easily, try a 195/55/16 stretched onto an 8" wide rim.

yeah, they are 7-series wheels. I'm pretty happy with the width of my rubber for now, i'm getting good grip in the corners and havent really locked up the brakes. Thanks for the tip though, i may look for some wider e36 bbs wheels for when i go turbo this winter.

Thanks for the compliments bud. I have a blast maintaining, upgrading and doing events with this car, its my favorite track car yet. The ecsta ast tires i bought were 56 bucks a pop, and lasted incredibly well at the event.

Few questions: What tires were you running up front? Did you feel you had enough power? How did your clutch hold up?
