Honesly, who cares that they're Ford? They're just pieces of urethane with a Ford logo stamped on them. It's not like they're Ford intake manifolds or something, they're just a shaped piece of urethane. Shit, they're probably better quality than 90% of the aftermarket garbage out there.
For anyone that's interested, I've started a thread on the modification and installation of them in the Body and Paint forum.

I found out just how durable they are. I just pulled them off after I got 1 screw out. I figured if they broke I'd just get a different pair. After some forceful pulls and bends, they came off....no harm done!

I dig them because they fill out the rocker area a lot more than the IS skirts. E30s get a little empty and round down there when they have chunkier front ends, IS lips, etc. and it really helps to have something subtle, yet substantial down there. That's why the look of the Mtech 2 kit works so well - it kind of adds some clean, old-fashioned German slab-sided looks to the car. I think the Taurus skirts look hot, and you can't beat the price.
I've got a skirt idea of my own, but it'll have to wait til I find a car that isn't all fucked up.

That isnt a bad idea! You could modify them so that they are ready to mount, and then sell them and possibly make some extra $$.
