ok too be honest that picture of the shattered wheel kinda boggles me. i glanced a guard rail with my car and my left front wheel took the first hit. i was doing about 80 btw. the wheel did not break nor bend..just chipped out little sections where it hit. my strut bent instead. ill post a picture tonight when i get home. but also if your gonna hit things hard enough to break a wheel then you have more to worry bout then the wheel itself IMO.;)

i was looking at drop hats but i think they'll drop it too much, especially with a lip+splitter. im just going to change wheels. it might resolve the problem. if not i'll just go for coilovers and sell my current suspension setup entirely.

this is probably not the best to make my first post, but i'm suprised how many of you guys are making some pretty big assumptions here about sportmax wheels, did anyone take the time to research where the picture came from? it was on a miata with stretched rubber. the guy was drifting, and slid into a curb.

i realize that some of you may not like the style of sportmax rims, and thats perfectly fine, but you have to admit they are different then most wheels out there, and in my opinion they fit the styling of the bmw e30, much better then say, e46 M replica wheels.

now my 318i is running a oldschool set of Work ewing emotions(lets see who knows there wheels;) ), 16x7 +_25 offset which i think fit e30 styling quite well. my point is, we shouldnt bash the guy, his car looks very nice imo, maybe not how some people think it should look but if he is happy with it thats what is really important:p

that was one incident out of thousands of wheels sold. and it was a miata at that. guy probably was driving spiritedly and smacked the wheel into a curb for all we know.

1) He was on the track
2) He was exiting a turn and hit the rumble strip on the outside wheel (common occurence)
3) wheel just gave up

the wheel has a lot of abnormal warnings and exceptions on the box, compared to other wheel boxes. Don't mount if O.D. of tire is larger than 31"

The fake wheel hardware falls off all the time, we have a small box full of the fake wheel bolts that have fallen off.

Other than the miata incident, I've seen the spokes break completely from the barrel, I've seen the lip fold inward like a coke can, blah blah, call me a hater, Sportmax wheels just killed it for me.

The wheels look good man, yeah they're popular on r3v but who gives a shit. How many guys from this board have you seen cruising in your home town? Probably none. I love how everyone hear is bagging on cheap wheels on an E30. No shit they're cheap wheels, it's a cheap fucking car! But, thaks for pointing out that people probably buy sportmax's because they are cheap. People probably buy E30's because they are cheap. What's that, a pattern? If all of us could afford to buy a set of wheels and tires that cost more then our cars, we probably wouldn't be driving just an E30.
