    Woohoo!
Timing belt swap went great...motor cranked right over and iddling steady. Now if I can only figure out how to bleed my cooling system between the bleed screw and the overflow tank, I'll be all set.

Here's a 3-part picture of the layout just before everything started going back in (don't laugh at the lebled zip-lock bags...its how I roll):

Next on the agenda is brakes...new rotors and pads- what do you guys think of the Turner Motorsports rotor and pad kit they sell for about $250 or so?

Also, i'm not sure if I should rebuild the calipers or get re-manufactured ones...what do you guys think?

I have never rebuilt an E30 caliper, but I don't think they're any different from anything else. If you can get a rebuilt kit, I say DIY. Then again the re-manufactured ones would be prettier, unless you get fancy with your rebuilding. Okay, I'm no help, nevermind. :p

To bleed it, crack the bleeder screw, and keep the coolant level topped off. Watch for flow out of that little...spigot thingy (that's a technical term) in the reservoir. You want it to be steady and consistent. If it isn't, keep bleeding. If it still isn't, make sure it's not plugged. It sometimes helps to turn on the heater and rev it up a little bit, but usually they bleed pretty quickly.

I will look into the cost of the rebuild kit. If it is significantly lower than the cost of re-man'd calipers, I may go for it...I don't mind doing the work. I guess it will all be determinged when the wheels come off and its propped up on jackstands.

If I paint them black or silver they will be pretty regardless.:p

its somewhere around $80 for all 4 depending on which calipers you have.

              Hey dude,

I haven't seen such an E30 in my life. There is a lot to do I think, but it's Cirrusblau, so keep up the work and post some current pics :D

Sorry to bring this back from the deep chasms is the forum, but the project is back under way. Now that the weather is getting warmer in NY, and there is daylight past 17:00, the car is back to undergoing dismantaling for paint!

Spent the last few days removing everything from the exterior and other items in the sills and jambs, pop out windows, all the rubbers, etc.

I'll take some pictures tomorrow. The aim is to get it into the shop this coming week. Prepare yourselves for "Where does this screw go?"-tyoe questions!

                :D

No..I am not on Nissan boards. My father had a light 2WD pick up that was a hoot to drive, though. =)

OK...so here is the car. Almost all ready to be dragged away to the body shop.

Today I will be removing the interior and carpet, reinstalling the driver seat so it can be driven if needed. I will also be removing the fog lamps, and door locks (waiting for a reply on a post...dunno how to do it) as well as the wiper mechanism (also waiting for reply on a post...).

Hopefully the results will be nice, as it has been a bit of work...I can't imagine the amount of work invilved with the re-installation of everything when it gets back from paint.

If you guys can, please post any contacts for trim/clips, grommets aside from RealOEM and Bavarian AS...I'm looking into stuff for the re-assembly.

                        thanks for you help!
