Guy that owns this one had three imported and federalized several years ago .
Sold the other two over the course of 2-3 years and with the profit they paid for this modded purple (mystic ?) one .

In Europe they have performed the Euro S50 swaps already as well as the 12cyl .
Hard to belive with the engine compartment looking as cramped as it is ...but there is actually a guy in Ca that is performing the V12 swap on his Z1 this Summer .

Oh and the doors drop down into the body , not slide into it .

Also once you consider the original purchase price (used in Europe) and factor in the importing and federalization you can get a better understanding of why these things sell for so much .
Not to mention the exclusivity factor . :D

He also owned a pair of these. All registered and insured in Canada. I guess I'm pretty lucky to have driven all 3.

that dude is friends with the guys that own autobahn/endura. ive seen those cars as well as his 993 turbo at the warehouse in el cajon. i think he was partner in the gt40 replica project.

He's tried to sell this on eBay a few other times.. I've watched it every time, but no one has picked it up.

ANother cool feature is that you can buy a sprare set of plastic body panels from BMW and completely change the color of the car is a lil over an hour.
Won't fit. the Z1 rear end is the same as the E36.

You can't change the body panels in an hour even though BMW says you can.

Sounds right, I know he has a bunch of other cars as well, I remember something about GT/GT40.

I wonder what parts from that thing are swappable and beneficial to the E30 if any. If so, I wonder if they are available through my local dealership.

oh, the closest i ever got to one was at ImportFest 2006 in Canada:

Nothing that is an upgrade. The front end is an E30, the rear end is an E36 (the exact opposite of a Z3). Body panels won't work (duh! LOL).
