    Finally!

I finally looked at and bought an e30 yesterday.
Its an delphin 87 325is. Bone stock except for bilsteins. 215k miles, 3k on a rebuilt engine, but im no mechanic and im almost positive i hear gnarly valve slap or something. Tell me what you guys think of it. and i also need to know whats goin on with my front end. The IS valence is missing and theres something else there, i have no idea what it is.

Looks like a good solid base to start with.

Reminds me of how I bought my car... You too can turn it into the delphin hotness! That front lip is just from a normal i. Probably because it was damaged and they don't make new ones. Tuck the bumpers, suspension and get auto-xing. Learn how to drive that baby.

Thats exactly what im trying to do. And im planning on doing work on my bumpers tomorrow. they need to be sanded down in some spots and made black again. Well see how the bumper tucking goes. and im planning on getting just some lowering springs soon, and maybe new wheels.

It needs to just be cleaned up more than anything

              Hey man, welcome to R3V.

Great start for a fun little car there.

One thing more important than those bumpers is buying a "Bentley" manual. Get it now, you will need it.

As far as suspension, handling, etc, the very first thing to do (IMO) is change the control arm bushings (CABs) up front. Very easy to do if you have the skillz (yO!).

Likely as not, you have some "Brake Shimmy" which changing to Urethane CABs (I really like the ones from AKG Motorsport) will completely eliminate..plus the turn-in will be massively sharper.

Do you know which Billys you have? Crawl under the ass end of your car with a flashlight and look for a metal tag on your differential...tell us what it says.

              Have fun and drive safe!

              Luke

There are LOTS of us in the PNW, BTW.

euro bumpers come and go on here. i dont think you can get them anywhere new. if you have a valve slap noise, might need to be re-adjusted.

Listen to a few more m20's before you panic about the valves. Adjusting them is very easy, but you can be within spec and still hear the valves (sounds like a sewing machine). Do not overtighten the valve lash or you will create problems, even though the motor may be quieter. 10mm gap between the rocker and cam on a cold engine. Have fun with it!
