m20 one looks to new to be legit. Japandrew is making Vc's and intakes to say alpina so anyone could do it

Do you guys suggest replacing your valve cover gasket when refinishing the VC ?

On principle, yes.

if you have no idea how old it is, yes.

you can usually re-use them 2-3 times though. I'd also replace the rocker shaft grommets if you're replacing the VC gasket, especially if they are original.
