I really like the blue color... no one will notice the "10ft" blemishes when you're sliding sideways in a 4 wheel drift :-D

Nope - the random orbital makes it really hard to do that. You pretty much have to put on an aggressive compound, use an aggressive pad, crank the orbital up all the way and lean on it.

I wasn't really sure about it beforehand, but now I get it. The machine keeps things careful.

If you have single stage paint (no clear coat - common for reds and blacks for some reason), you have to be a little more careful, especially with the most aggressive polish, but frankly with the right stuff you have to work hard to make a mistake.

If I'd been worried, I would have gotten a hood from the junkyard, but the kit comes with a video that shows you everything.

After a wash and claybar, I started with a section of the hood an Griot's Machine Polish 3 (the mildest - was saving the GlossHaus for the M635). After seeing how much still needed to be done, I went with the GlossHaus Foundation 2 (the medium polish) and then another run with the GlossHaus mild polish, Foundation 3. That produced a dramatic improvement, and one you could see even better after the GlossHaus glaze and polymer wax (I'm saving the carnuba for the M635). That is the "before and after" pic at the top - Pic #1 is after 1 pass w/ the Griot's and Pic #2 is the full treatment.

I finished the hood at that level, and then did the rest of the car with the mild polish plus glaze and polymer wax. The roof is even worse than the hood, but I didn't want to devote the time to it at this point. Next time the hood will get healthy.

I hit the trim with McGuires Back to Black (which is decent - sure there is better stuff out there), cleaned the windows and wheels, plus shined the tires and got this:

The M635 will take more time - I'm going to go slowly with it. Will probably start with a wash next week or so...

So how are you liking it down south after the move from the DC area? Life has to be less hectic? Still have the Mustang?

Cars are looking good. I am considering moving down that way to get away from the silly rat race of DC

Me? I'm an NC boy for most of my life, though I did live in Vienna when I was a little kid back when there were still farms there..:-D (never had a mustang, btw)

I highly recommend the South (except Atlanta - too much traffic for me) - I'm not much of a fan of racing rats...

Looks good, but those pictures are really grainy, so the shine doesn't stand out.
