My solution to the blown e36 headgasket

    04 a4 1.8t quattro

I'm going to hang on to the e36 and replace the headgasket...

Sorry for the crappy cell phone shot.

Nice, I liked my Audi a lot. I wish I didn't have to get rid of it but not a college students car when money is tight

It's very fun to drive. The handling is exceptional and the power is really nice.

That motor was great in my 01 A3 and ok in my 02 Passat. I'd think it'll be ok in your A4.

            Enjoy

Having worked on lots and lots of Audis I am sorry for you. They're fun till they start falling apart and leaking a bunch. Enjoy it!

This will be driven gently to say the least.

My shop owner friend says that Audi is German for "requires special tools".

When I was at his place not long ago, he was doing a t-belt on an Audi 1.8T. The VW version - same vintage, could be done with normal tools. The Audi one had a different tensioner that (you guessed it) required a special tool.

That's ok Dave, most of the guys who drive Audis are special tools.

Make sure you get rid of it before the warranty is up.

Didn't mean you, just speaking in generalities. They say the same thing about us. I just had an opprtunity to make a clever twist of phrase. :D

You guys freaked me out about maint on these things - so I researched it quite a bit. 99% or the problems seem to stem from poor service history and the use of improper oil. Otherwise they are much like e30s - change the oil and timing belt when you should and you'll be golden.
