6 hrs of washing, shampooing, & straightening... (long)

...have netted a much cleaner E30. Now that I've washed it, I've found that the paint is not quite PERFECT, but not very bad. There are a lot of scratches and swirling, but nothing a good cut and polish by a competent detail shop can't fix.

The one thing I have found that bugs me a little is the passenger side rear corner. It looks as though someone rear-ended it (lightly) or one of the previous owners backed into someting. Nothing major at all, just enough to cause some body damage that was not repaired as well as it could have been. Little bit of chipping paint, a little bit of deformity in the metal still, but like the paint, nothing that can't be fixed later without TOO much damage to my wallet, so I'm not losing any sleep over it. The trunk also appears to have been repainted, there is noticeable bad spots and some clearcoat screwups, hence the "325" bagde.

The area where the passenger side rear bumper mount is located was pushed in, enough to make the bumper noticeably uneven. We used a slide hammer and pulled it out, and fixed it well enough to look decent until I can afford to get it into a body shop later. The bumper still sits a LITTLE crooked, but only to the point where only I notice it.

The passenger side front fender is also pretty faded, but not dented or anything like that. it appears to have been replaced, but a further inspection could find no damage to any other areas in the front, save the slightly warped valence (which I already knew about), so I'm not worrying about it. I can get it repainted when I get the new valence and front bumper cover painted.

Overall, I'm very happy with this car. It's not going to be a concours show car, it's going to be my daily driven, heavily modded, occasionally autocrossed, little box-o-fun. It doesn't need to be showroom perfect. Hell, if some low-rent body work, a beat up valence, and a faded fender are all I have to put up with for the exact year and color car I wanted, I can live with that. :D

Here are a few pics. I'll get some of the interior when I finish cleaning it. The carpet looks soooooo good...

u know, i was just talking to my mate the other day. we decided that next time we buy a car, we are going to wash it before purchase. being that during a wash is when u pick up on most of the little imperfections.

anyway, gonna come up nice when u get into it josh.
