    It was a long time.

Big thanks to Alex for the Home and Auto Membership and the free tow.

Damn Axels! That is the 3rd one in a 12 month period! Any ideas? Does anyone know of a company that make stronger than stock axels for these cars?

Probably because of your tyres, I have some Pirelli p7000 and it kept breaking my Half shafts whenever i'd drop the clutch to do a burnout they would break and the bearing would fly out.

I had dunlop FM901 tires and my 345i had 300RWHP. I haven't had 1 problem with drive axles snapping.

That doesn't make sense. You can't make a blanket statement about tire companies... They all have several different models, all for different purposes.

Pirelli's P Zero Corsa will do *just slightly* better in dry pavement cornering then a Falken ZE-502, for instance. And by *just slightly* better, I mean it will destroy it.

I swear, this is the first time I've heard of someone state that tire traction causes axle failure.

Well, if a tire's too sticky on a really hot day, then the next weakest part to go will most likely be the half axles, right?

I was raised in a place where summertime temps hovered around 120 deg F and the asphalt was in the 180-210 deg F levels, never saw that happen, ON cars with sticky tires. I remember the bottoms of the soles of my shoes getting gooey, but no axle failure on any/all my friends FWD Honda's due to street tires.

There is no street tire that will grip, causing a *OEM quality, good condition, properly installed* axle to give out. You start running 11" drag slicks with line lock and a proper burnout, and you have 300+ hp, then you *might* break your axles.

An shitty Pirelli p7000 all-season tire will completely melt before your axle even knows you were trying to launch.

As far as half shaft go I have had bad luck with rebuilt ones as well.

Buy brand new ones. They should be good for quite a bit of horsepower. Hell, I dont know of really anyone having to replace E30 axles. Its not a general problem on BMW's.

I have never had an issue and I am over 250 to the wheels. Is anything bent or worn out in back causing undo stress?
