I'm sure that he pulled it out of that to show us what it looked like.

Granted the box is a little flexed on the plenum side.

This makes me very happy. That car has so much history on the forums, its good to see it will live on in some way.:)

i seriously want to know how much you paid! I'm really interested in this as well. Even with the packing job, lol

I think I'd pay as much $2200 total. Was it less than that?

please PLEASE put a real EMS on that, not Motronic with a maf conversion. :(

really, why spend $2000 on itbs, $6000+ on a motor and then cheap out on engine management?

looks like some really cool stuff. I have ridden in built M20s, and just cant imagine why or how you would prefer 100 hp less without a turbo, but yah, I guess it is very maint. free without a turbo.
cant wait to see it done.

it took me about 20 seconds to find thier site and the price not shipped is 2075.00 euros

hey fellas, as Mike pointed out the price is readily available on their site http://www.dbilas.com but they did give me a nice discount which I thought was very decent of them. With shipping the total came out around 2k euros.

                      As for the box: *yikes*

Ya this was a bit of a surprise, especially the hole in the side of the box :/ Good news is there is no damage, but if you order one it would probably be beneficial to request better packaging....certainly a box that is longer than the contents with protection all around. This was stuffed with shedded paper & some bubble wrap, but the ends were not well protected since the box was not long enough.

                      As for the MAF conversion:

I don't really see how this is restrictive and my past experience with the MAF swap on my other 3.0L stroker was very good......granted I only have experience with the AFM and MAF. I didn't use the Split Second setup, but instead dyno tuned with the Unichip piggyback at every 1000 revs. My old charts are up somewhere, and showed a very modest gain, but I never expected any sizeable gain. As expected the throttle response was really good though. The large gains were from the proper tuning of the engine with the Unichip piggyback.....if I recall correctly, around 10-12hp & torque gains throughout over the 3.0L stroker running on just Motronic and a 2.7L Alpina chip. I'm anxious to see the gains with the SMT6 tuning which is not done live on the dyno.....not quite apples to apples but should be interesting nonetheless.

                      As for engine management:

I really don't think it's cheaping out at all. The Motronic is fine with the addition of the SMT6 and my pal that is running a 3.0L with dbilas, 288/288 cam is making very acceptable power & torque up to 7500-8000rpm. In my opinion standalone would be a waste of money for anything other than a blown setup.

$6000 for the engine....damn I hope it doesn't add up to that, but I try not to add it up.......ever!!

As for not diggin the turbo:

Many reasons really, but the most important reason was all that power hitting at 3200-3300rpm. I simply prefer the buildup of power over the revs accompanied by the screaming engine.....it's just music to my ears ;) The whoosh of the turbo just doesn't do it for me at all, and the BOV annoyed the heck out of me.

Also, I'm not into HUGE power, and found the modest turbo power of this car pretty useless and not very enjoyable at all on the street. My cab always felt like it had the ideal power for that car, and so I'm trying to obtain that kind of power with this lighter 2dr, but with longer legs since I skimped out on the headwork & dbilas last time....heh!

Anyhow, it shouldn't be 100hp less but more like 30-40 (give or take with dyno differences, climate) . The turbo setup on this car made 243HP & 275ft-lbs on a DynoDynamics in 65F dry weather. My 3.0L cab made 189HP & 207ft-lbs and Calvin's stroker (similar to this build) made around 211HP & 201ft-lbs on a Dastek dyno in a hotass tropical climate.

Will get more pics up later.............in the meantime I'm sentenced to driving a 72 Pontiac Grand Ville (ex aircraft carrier). At least it has a monster engine, but damn it needs that to just move hahahahah!!

*edit* thanks for the compliments on the cab....I really miss driving it, but hopefully this one will feel similar when it's done.

Sounds like a major fun project.

                              I have a spare m20 that I
have yet to decide what to do to it.
