A milestone in my m42's lifetime

Well today I finally rolled past the 200k mark after nearly five years of ownership. The car has definitely come a long way from when I originally purchased it as a bone stock 318iS with 134k on the clock.

As she looked a few months after purchase 100% bone stock.



Nearing a momentous occasion...don't mind the abs light, just a faulty wire I need to replace



Finally there, the car is just starting to be broken in.



As she sat today at work after all the time, hardwork, and money I've put into her over the past five years...and I'm still far from being done.







My front end still looks naked though after my iS lip met an untimely demise to a tire on the freeway. Still debating whether to go with another iS lip and splitter, or go with the reiger lip/splitter combo.

I paid 3k for it(dad's coworker was selling) which I still think was a smoking deal because the car was in amazing shape. Interior was perfect and still has a crack free dash. Only interior part I really need to replace now are floor mats, as well as the carpet needs a nice shampooing and cleaning. Also the drivers seat is cracking a little on a bolster, but what can one expect from a 17 year old car.

Seriously, at 200k the motor feels like it's running stronger then ever. Makes me think it's ready for a Downing Atlanta supercharger.

I never did a full overhaul, but I have replaced key components i.e. the chain, tensioner, and guides. Because about 30k miles ago, the chain guides started disengrating. But it's been running smoothly ever since, and doesn't leak a drop of oil.

thats sweet man, my m42 just cracked 260K but the body sux so im goin to pick up an iS this weekend. I bought all the parts to do a timing chain overhaul but since im getting rid of the car, ill take a look at the new one. That bastard will be good for another 200K and then some, congratulations.

Now what I'd really love to do, is by a spare m42(which can be had for a few benjamins) build it up and stroke it out to 2.1L, and eventually throw a DASC kit on it. I have a feeling it would be worlds of fun, screw your 24v swaps...:twisted:

My 318is just rolled over 180k.

Your car looks great.
Get an IS lip with splitter. The reiger is too bulky.

my 1rst 325is had 260k when i bought it with the original block and a refreshed head... that thing pulled nearly as hard as my m20 with 50k does!
