They say "If you love something, then let it go... If it comes back to you, then it is yours forever!"
That morning 3 years ago when I handed the keys to the new owner Mike and watched him drive away I knew I made a mistake, and I've relived that moment many times thinking about what I had done. So you can imagine my surprise when I get an email from Mike that read:
Hey Winston. Sorry about not getting back to you about the wheels.
The reason for this email is I’m thinking about letting Nina go and I wanted to give you heads up about it. I won’t be listing her for a few weeks but Ill give you first shot at it if you want since you seemed so sad to lose her. She is in basically the same condition as when you sold her to me as I have not had the chance to repaint her yet.
Mike picked me up from the airport and this is what was waiting for me when we arrived at his home.
The original collector decal was still there
Loading her up with all of the parts I sold Mike and the Borbet B's which needed new rubber.
Nina wasn't in exactly the same condition she left Vancouver in as the crappy roads in Edmonton did give her a few extra blemishes, a thin coat of dust everywhere and one broken foglight lens. I just accepted this as wear and tear until I looked at the odometer and it read just over 88000 miles!
In the 3 years he owned it he put less than 10000 miles on the car! To put it in perspective I'm going to rack up 1000 miles just going home!
Got all the paperwork done, called it an early evening so I can start driving at 5am in order to have as much daylight driving as possible.
I thank mike for his hospitality and snap a pic of the milage at 5am.

Mike advised that I should head should travel South and avoid the mountain passes which might get snow.
South I go and at 9:30am I make it to Banff... and guess what? It starts snowing.
Nina has a set of summer tires on so I was praying for the snow to not stick. A couple of hours later and as I get close to the Alberta-BC border I find myself stuck in a traffic jam.
I cross the BC border and am making good time, at 11am I'm in Golden, BC
500 miles down and I am just outside Kamloops, BC and yes... been driving all this time with no front or rear plates.
Being Chinese I had to get a shot of the lucky odometer reading
