oh yeah, I can see the graphs now - your AF curve is way off. definitely some ponies to be gained in there.

cheers fellas, it's really a fun ride!

Alpina I'd really like to try an S38B38 in an E30 hahahha!

Eurotrash, so you live in Lexington? Do you have an E30?

Thanks for chiming in Gunni, and with regards to the AF, it was left a tad rich so that once the car was moving at speed it could lean out some. If you think I'll be fine closer to 13:1 then I'll give it a go....thing is the car flies right now though hahhhaah! That big dip in the AF is just before it really gets on the cam, but I'd like to see if that can't be worked out. Regarding timing, I used a 3.1L chip Mark D sent me and we will try another he is making but the first chip was really just to get me a raised rev limiter. Not sure of the timing adjustments done on the chip but during the dyno tune with the SMT6 -1 seemed to be the only adjustments. Any more or less didn't seem to help at all (+/- 2-3). I hope to get more info on the timing adjustments of the new chip that should be here next week. Are there any secrets to adjusting the timing on these engines?

ecu chip tuning timing is usually 8+ degrees advanced.

if you change the timing at idle does the idle change at all?
just wondering if the timing is really adjustable,

Of course you don´t need a chip for timing as you have the SMT, so you should have timing adjusted on the dyno by the tuner/operator.

It's crazy how different this 288/288 cam feels from my other 3.0L stroker with 272/272.
At around 3000-3500 the engine just comes to life and screams to 6800rpm. Definitely
changing the rear silencer to something that's not like straight pipes cuz it's just obnoxious
sounding on the street. I took it out on the country roads and just had a ball........luckily
though, the Bluegrass Motorsports Club, just an hour north of me, is due to open in
09.............wOOT~! Now I just gotta sell enough cockpits so I won't feel so bad droppin
all that dough on a membership heheh.

Very happy with the tune, but surprised at how low the Dyno Dynamics numbers were....I
guess just dyno numbers though so no biggie. Besides the normal numbers and AF I did a
run in Shoot 6 mode for Digger to compare....hope it helps man! There are a few runs on there since some fine tuning was taking place.

According to the guy that tuned my car (who also works with the US distributor of Dyno
Dynamics and delivers/trains all workshops that purchase their dynos in US & Europe)
Shoot 6 mode is an inflated number to make people happy. This might be why Digger has
seen such big differences in numbers across different DD dynos....some in Shoot 6 mode,
some not? The dyno used for my tune, and they have many there, is the latest made by
Dyno Dynamics, along with the latest software release. Pretty cool to see they now have
a wireless hand controller unit now too.

          HP & TQ at the wheels = 189rwhp 175ft-lbs

          TQ & AF

          HP in Shoot 6 mode

          Chris,

The last graph is actually flywheel hp using shootout 6 not rwhp using shootout 6, both are possible. DD have a 'technique' for estimating flywheel hp and flywheel torque thats why its much higher than 1st two graphs, its effectively rwhp x 1.2.

Shootout 6 fixes the ramp rate, inertia corrections, and ambient compensations but doesn't always estimate flywheel hp, but it can do so if wanted.

The graph i posted shows 217rwhp at rear wheel but 345Nm(254lb-ft) at flywheel i.e. the power is at the wheels and torque is at the flywheel.

If you use the well known hp=tqxrpm/5252 using rwhp vs rpm to get rwtq its

          217rwhp/207rwtq

DD are notoriously variable, i suggest if you want numbers to compare to look at what the machine reads for other cars or find a dynojet its more likely they are slightly more consistant though still not gospel.

here are some graphs from an operator in the UK with 'flywheel' hp vs rwhp for dyno dynamics

For each car the first graphs are flywheel numbers (hp and tq) and the 2nd graph for each car is the rear wheel hp number all using shootout 6 for the NA 6 cylinder cars.

                    Yea me too.

Turbo would have been cheaper too lol.

                    But looks absolutely insane.

                    kudos!

Its not a balls out hp #, but i'm sure it makes a great DD. With boost i'm sure I would be breaking the speed limit in 2nd gear on the streets every time.
