im going to put my two cents in here and say the 5er tourings with the bigger motors and upgraded suspension are anything but boring. its no e30, but still fun as hell.

Honestly dude keep it, I have the same feelings but I did what I initially suggested (public transportation/bike to places since I live in a city where things are fairly close to me)

I don't have the money to fix the problems my car has because of school and living expenses but now those can be put on hold till I make enough at my P/T job. Find a way, don't give up. My friends and family had to convince me selling my car was an extreme measure that I really didn't need to do.(although 2.5g's would make me really happy right now) If money is really tight, look at other aspects of your life that you may be able to cut down on.

I'm sure the love is still there, you just need something to get the fire goin again.

            Just don't sell.

i vote for keeping it as well.
when the touring needs service you have a car to drive. :)

I actually find myself in a similar situation to yours...I have a Volvo wagon that is slightly modded and a sock E30 that I'm about finished with and can start palying with suspension having fun with. I will be installing the stock XC suspension back on the Volvo (and removing the R suspesion) putting the badges back on, re-installing the OEM wheels and selling the R wheels...already removed a boost gauge...in other words, making it stock to drive everyday.
The BMW will be the fun car...easier to fix, more fun to drive etc etc. And whent he Volvo has to go to the dealer for a software upgrade, I can drive the BMW.

Get a stock, reliable DD and the e30 will come back to being amazing each time you get in it. My e30 is my weekend machine and I love it each time I drive it - even without A/C - and thats because its NOT my DD. Driving a slammed, 20 year old, manual car everyday can definitely get old.

This is ridiculous advice. If anyone gets a second job to finance something as lousy as a second car (much less a 20 year old BMW), your priorities are all kinds of fucked up.

Think about what you really want, but do what you gotta do.

                      Best advice yet.

Get your priorities straight and then think about what you want to do. If you can't swing two cars then don't try. However, I do think that if you're going to have a "fun car" you should have a DD. The luster of a toy fades quickly if you use it dailey. I got bored with my STi because it was my DD for almost a year before I bought my E30.

                        Hey,

After you sell your car, you can buy a big box of tampons, tissues, and chocolate. Seriously, put the Dr. Phil book down, untuck your junk and remember your a fucking man!

So many of us "over 40" guys had cars we loved in our youths that are now rare and/or valuable. We sold them, because it was time to "grow up" or whatever.

                          We ALL regret it.

                          Luke

Thanks luke, I was struggling with this too......I sold my M50 cabrio(first love). Only to amazingly have it come back to me. And then i was going to sell the S52....
Then i got this same sentiment from my dad. Who had a V8 Vega back in 73. All i have EVER heard was about how he should have held onto it

So i think im going to do everything within reason to hold on to these.

Lol Geo Metro. I'm so down for that right now. I really do want a stock E30 318i/is that I can put my roof racks on! ;) I'm going to keep my car, but I'm definitely not going to fully fix it right now and see if I can't pick up a daily for ~$1000.
