I just went through the whole totalling and dealing with insurance companies on my last e30. i wouldnt even worry about repairing it. its not just the fender the body beneath the fender is all bent up as well.

but from my experience i would say if the insurance company is going to rape you on the amount they give you for the car definitely fight it. their first quote they gave me was unacceptable. something in the 2k range and on their report they were comparing my car to cars that didnt even run. after a lot of fighting and research ( i formulated my own report on what i thought it was worth with examples of e30 in the same condition as mine and what they sold for ) they ended up sending out a private appraiser who didnt know what they insurance was offering. he ended up appraising it in the 5k range. i ended up getting 5k and the car back, parted it out, got a new e30, and ended the whole situation better off than i was before it happened. i would say between 3500-4000 is very reasonable. oh and my e30 had 234k miles. ;)

when my car got hit i replaced hood, fenders, valance, bumper, grills, lights, and all exterior trim and tail lights, and then got the entire car painted and it was only about $3000-$3500. everything except for the headlights were purchased new and everything is OEM except for the fenders.

Yeah but this car looks to need a core support.. thus the high estimate.

I'm fixing my e28 with similar damage.. I bought a parts car and had the core support cut and welded for $200, I'm in the process of putting it back together right now. I'll only be ~$500 into it when its ready for paint. Sorry to see that though, the Mini wheels look interesting!

                damm.

In california you could probably have that fixed in a two weekends. for cheap to. (nice junkyards)
of course you doing all the work. except painting.
I dont how the market for e30's is back in TN but I know if that happend here in Texas I would be fucked since everyone thinks these cars are worth a million-fucking-dollars...... I hate Texas.

Totalled for sure. Aim for $3800 - $4500. Oh yeah, get a rental car on the other persons insurance dime. It helps them see "your side" in the negotiations, when they are paying daily for a rental car.
