Your information on the cast vs. forged is correct.. The cast ones do weigh more also..

I have a full set of forged.. :)

me no likey-- unless you are going to paint the car the same color as the rims.--- but as far as what i can see in running gear, it looks to be impressive.

          is the newer motor a 3.0 or a 3.2?

I now have a full set too :) some are just wider than others...

so I'm going to be a pic whore a little bit more.

Plus the ride height was bugging me, so i decided to play with the H&R coil overs a little bit.

here is the stock fenders about 1/2 way down. major tire shaving rubbage right now.

and here is all the way down with fender flares. damn, i still need to go lower! camber plates should help this issue though... we'll see

as for the cast/forged issue. I decided to weigh the combo's

            - naked forged M system I with 215/40/17 falken azenis rt615's weigh 36.5 lbs on my bathroom scale

            - forged M system I incl fans and turbine covers with 215/40/17 falken azenis rt615's weigh 42lbs

            - cast M system I incl fans and turbine covers with 215/40/17 falken azenis rt615's weigh 46.5lbs

hubcaps were not included in this scientific test.

Two more pics just for some fun.

edit: mike -I'm not sure i like it either, but it's growing on me. The car will never be as nice as your M3, so i don't really feel the need to try to make it look nice. I origionally bought it to put bilstiens/h&r's and some sticky tires and thrash at the ring, but you can see how well that plan turned out... the new motor is a 3 liter.

It has potential. I really like so many things about your car but there are still some I would change.
I would remove the spacers from the front fans, I love turbines but I think a bit of dish really makes them. I also love them in white, but since your car is white, some contrast would be nice.. How about green rims and white turbine covers? I'll do a PS. ok cool

I like the rusty trunk.. not my style but I do like it alot with the mt1 wing.

1 last thing. If your going to run flares, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE put some man sized meat on those wheels. I think it would really ad to the cars aggressive appearance. just my 2c

*edit* oh yeh, and front bumper! I'm sure your planning on putting it on but haven't got round to it... right..?

the tire size is bugging me too, but i bought the tires before i bought the brakes, and the brakes need lots of space. which to choose right?

I'm rebuilding my BBS modular race wheels to fill the arches, with rubber to match, but that probably won't be till next winter.

front bumper needs some holes drilled in the core, then it will go back on. oh yeah i have to find the side brackets too, oops!

Edit: oh yeah forgot one more pic.

we have cold weather too :(

Where did you get the Azenis from? I couldn't find them in the UK..

How about black turbines with the green rims?

4lbs difference in the rims then.. Quite a bit! Didn't realise the covers weighed so much.. Might have to remove mine

Did you know there are two different style M system 1's? I've been told that the ones with the notches in the face are cast, and the ones without are forged. I've also been told that they are all forged, just different designs.
Ah, yeah, I was aware of the FPS cast version of the M-System but I haven't ever seen one in the flesh before. The two sets that we have now are forged (notchless). But I imagine the FPS' are very strong in their own right. Thanks for the pictures of the two wheels, I knew about the forged/cast thing, but I never knew one was notched and the other was notchless.

IMO, I'd rock the forged M-System's with the green caps. It sounds like they clear the caliper alright, and they add the perfect amount of shock value to the car. I'd give a nut for some shots of that thing tearing it up on the Nurburgring.

Euro S50B30, right? ~286 bhp? Sounds like fun.
