    The how to thread says they need to be charged first or else they won't allow you to reset properly. My instant mileage gauge did not work till they charged up.

      There were a few different boards, the earlier ones used NiCads. The Sanyo lithiums in my board specifically state not to recharge them.

      I haven't taken a DMM to the batteries yet as I already reinstalled the cluster, but something tells me both new batteries are putting out 3V just fine.

          So it turns out the tach/OBC/radio fuse was pulled (the fuse was gone). It all works now.
