I don't know about the kit... thats what i'm going to do, get some IE flares! I made up my mind. I would prefer molded flares, but I don't want to spend too much time and/or money on this body, since it is rusty. This body is like an appartment for the engine, its temporary!

For the spacer, I don't know the offset... I will get it. What is the maximun allowable spacer thickness if I don't want to destroy my wheel bearing?

The last owner was a bit hardcore on track oriented modification. For exemple: no door seal for weight reduction!

I want to keep the spacers, but I could have them machined a bit to bring them to 25mm maybee.

Update --> For the last weeks, I mainly worked on the electric stuff. Getting the lights, windows, gauges, etc... working.

Give me some advice on spacers and/or anything else!

    Thanks everybody!

There is two existing model: et20 or et30. I will need to look on the wheels...

I looked in front --> there is not a lot of room between the wheel and the shock. How close is "very close"?

        Ok, Little update...

I've been off this project a bit because I'm moving this weekend in my first house!! YES, With a Garage!! 16x24 with a shed of 10x12. The garage is heated! I wont work on the car until mid july since I must work on the house.

        Back to the main interest!

        - All the electrical stuff is now working except the rpm. I have an Autometer RPM that is working, but I don't like it...
        - Got a "new dash", no cracks!
        - "New cluster", no cracks!
        - I received my IE flares! Can't wait to install it!
        - Replaced headlights...
        - Temps, voltmeter and oil pressure gauge installed--> pressure is good, temp is a bit high 210F--> my fan cluth is gone.

The next steps will be to
        - fit the fenders,
        - change the tranny oil,
        - put my subframe solid bushing in
        - inspect the diff, since it doing a strange noise.
        - I will also add some strengh to the trailing arms.
        - I also need to do rear brake lines, since the last owner had routed them in a strange way!

I went to a garage, to get an opinion on my tranny :( the input shaft bearing would be "falling appart". I will flush the atf fluid and put some thick oil in it to make it last longer. I will try to keep it as long as I can. I would like to change the tranny while I will putting the swap in a cleaner shell.

My camera's battery are gone, they don't hold their charge. As soon I have pics, I will post them!

And yeah! I did a couple of donuts with old 185-60 r14 winter tire!! So much fun!! I also "raced" with a 335i. We were pretty even. I don't know if he was WOT, but it looked like!

          UPDATE!

It has been a long time! My girl and I bought our first house this summer. So pretty much all my "free time" went in it. Now that I'm pretty much installed, I'm back on the e30 project, but in MY garage!

as said before the interior is a bit cleaner, but still need love.

I started to to work on the rear end. my diff from Diffsonline was hissing a bit, but the oil really needed to be change. Inspected it with prussian blue. Contact is good and backlash is also good.

          Good contact on power:

Not perfect on compression. I wont touch anything since the inportant side is power side...

that's it for now, Should work on it this week!

          Oh yeah, look at this:

Worked a bit tonight. Cleaned and reassembled the diff. still required an output flange seal and good diff oil: Motul comp FF.

nice lookin car. You could do the bolt on m3 flares which I think are wierd but better than most that look like bolt on bushwacker flares.

yeah well, I all ready have the flares...

But anyway, I dropped the gas tank tonight. The rear subframe pick up point is really rusted, like a big hole is right in the chassis. The more I desassembled, the more I find rust holes, the more I want to buy another body. I'm still not sure what I will do... Rebuilt that body by welding a shit load of steel plates and sheet, or buy a clean, unmodified e30.

Rust is never ending... you think you cured it, only to find cancer somewhere else.

Just bought another car: a black 325i 91 for 250$. The engine is missing the injectors and I've been told that it was burning oil as hell. Don't care already have an engine! The brake doesn't work but who gives a shit! Got brake on the red one! The body seems clean, not perfect but beter than the red one.

Still have the decide which one will be the best!

                              Will send some pics later...

Julien, ya toujours moyen de couper et de resouder! Tk, je pense bien que le noir est vraiment moins rouillé du dessous.
