the bumper shocks absorb 5mph or less impacts. anything more than that, they won't do shit. metal bumpers aren't going to save you if you hit something hard at a high speed.. they use composite/plastic bumpers on modern cars for a reason.

        DIDNT READ.

remember the cracks that you are showing is the sound deadening.. Maybe some metal is tweaked but how much? IMO, New bumper shocks in the rear, exhaust tips and your car is good.

Its not a show car and although if you sell the car it may have some affect anywhere between Nothing to Completely getting rejected. = keep it. Have your friend buy you a couple beers and be happy it wasn't worse ; /

thats what i thought until i rear ended this chevy back in november i hit this lady at about 25 mph with my un-tucked diving board her car was fine and there was no body damage on my car, but my motor and tranny mounts sapped due to age i think my diving board was my saving grace in this instance

Lots of strange info going on in this thread. I've been in this situation before... more than once.

You need to contact HIS insurance company. Yours doesn't need to know about it.
They will likely total the car- but if they do, you'll be getting a sizable check. I got a $2600 check for a 325 with 300k miles on it and a salvage title. I got almost $6k for my e28.

Anyway, contact his insurance company. They'll ask for your insurance info, but you're not obligated to give them the info. Your insurance has no relation to it and therefore don't need to know about it. You can press this on them.

Don't let them run you in circles- insist they need to work on YOUR time schedule, since this is not YOUR fault. Tell them you want an adjuster to come out and look at the car- chances are they'll write the check on the spot.
You gotta play the role of the victim here. Don't back down to anything they try to throw at you. Insist the car is an enthusiast's car, show them what other cars in the same shape are going for.

Trust me, you'll get a lot for your car if they total it (which I'm pretty sure they will). Just have lots of examples printed out from R3V, e30tech, craigslist, autotrader, and ebay. Add up how much money in replacement parts you have and such.

            You'll come out ahead.

Ok, that's enough useful info from me for the rest of the month. Back to begging for attention!

exactly, I had to wait 3 months to get my car out of the body shop and I didn't even have them fix it,they were just getting it appraised,If you get a rental car it speeds them up. 4 days after I got a rental car it was settled after I had already waited about 3 months.

That sucks. I got 'em on the phone and pushed them around. Tell 'em you're not gonna budge. You need X, Y, and Z. Make them do it. None of this is your fault, you've been inconvenienced.

Take the cash and drive it as is. It really doesnt look that bad, but it will be totalled.

                            Sorry for your loss! :-(

Your car had come a long way since I first saw it on the board.

Will you be parting it out?
Dibs on the suspension if you decide to part out.

when my 240sx got hit, the insurance company paid me out a total loss for it....they also let me keep the car with a salvage title. i ended up taking the cash, selling the wrecked 240, and buying a 58 nomad with it!

as long as everything else is still straight, you should be able to take care of those dents with a body hammer and dolly
