    1984 318i M10 66K

A journal for my build, feel free to critique and answer my dumb questions.

Picked up late 2021, with 66k on the clock, sitting patiently for me on the street for more than 5 years...

It derailed my trip from the bay area to orange county by 4 hours, by the time I was done "inspecting" it, I knew it was coming home with me, rightfully or wrongfully, it did not matter. Hasn't run since parked or so the owner claims.

    On the agenda:
    - Make it run
    - Rebuild suspension
    - Rebuild steering
    - Rebuild cooling system
    - Rebuild brake system
    - Refresh drivetrain
    - Refresh fuel system including fuel tank
    - Refresh ignition system
    - Replace leaky exhaust
    - Refresh engine accessories
    - Upgrade to 15" BBS Euroweaves w/ new tires
    - Manual swap

    Outstanding questions:
    1. where can I purchase a DSSR for the M10/Getrag240? (288mm)
    2. The single mass flywheel, do you recommend sticking it in, resurfacing, oem replacement, or aftermarket??

Spare engine/transmission picked up for the manual swap! A fellow e30 fan was in the middle of a s5x swap, hence the sale of his M10/Getrag240 for $750. Including all new engine accesories, NIB accelerator cable, shifter linkage, secondary in-tank fuel pump, and more! Even though I dont plan on using the spare engine, it has proven invaluable in understanding how things work together and troubleshooting common items by simply swapping them out.

I'll have a box of working replaceable parts in the trunk for when things break down like the alterantor, injectors, throttle position sensor, power steering pump, AFM, starter, etc.

    Not a bad deal.

Looks like a project for sure. Glad you're manual swapping, it really does transform the car!

After a suspension refresh, a 5-speed swap was the next major mod on my original M20 engine.

M10! It makes me really happy to see one that is still in an e30... If you need any advice/input, feel free to PM me. I spent many hours dealing with the intricacies of L-Jetronic.
