thanks!
Well, the car has been broken for a while now. I hit a man hole cover that was sticking up going about 45 mph.
the steering was hitting the engine, I had to force it to turn.
Had to pull the engine to fix it.
the diagnosis was that the sub frame got pushed into the frame rails
this didn't fix it, lol
I should be able to fix this just fine, it seems pretty square still.
The solution:
the bigger hole fits the nubbin' on the sub frame
new on the left, old on the right
mocked up
solid!
a little engine bay cleaning up is taking place as well
I'll be painting the engine bay soon, but I have to do a couple more things first, and a sub frame repair and putting the engine back in will be in order.

lol, I totes forgot about this forum for a while.
a bunch of things have happened to it since I last posted on here, that gives you a photo update at least. I keep solving problems it's having, and I had to do a clutch and tail shaft bushing replacement recently. It's also kind of for sale right now... but only kind of.
that makes a long story short

Great thread, makin me miss my e21. Pretty much anything I could have added has already been mentioned by now, other than my front bumper "delete". I don't have any pics but I thought it looked better than the db. I took the bumper off, removed the rub strip, and attached just the rub strip to the valence. It kinda looks like you have a legit bumper, and it covers up the big holes in the valence from the bumper shocks. Oh and a rear bumper insert from a mb 190e can be made to replace the rear db. Neither solution is perfect but both would fit the look of your car nicely. Hope you don't sell it, I'd like to see this thread continue.

Thanks guys. The only real reason it's kind of for sale is that I've been getting a lot of Benz fever basically. part of me also wants to start over and do it all better the second time around... the left over vibration, that I now think is the diff is another reason for having it kind of for sale too. the more I drive it, the more I'm okay with nobody giving me an offer for buying it, so it's all good I guess.
speaking of things for sale though, the white wheels are for sale! they are a little out of true, and one has a small pot hole ding that was on it before I got it, but they are a pretty slick looking set of wheels for the money. I'm selling those both because they are a little out of true (they balance pretty close though) and because I want something wider... maybe in a 16.

a few things have been happening to this lately.
GM style ford alternator conversion. the belt slips on the pulley now... stupid chrome. sounds like a super charger, in an annoying way.
I went ahead and ground a bunch of useless material out of my spare intake manifold, took out stupid things like the shutter valve, welded some holes shut with the TIG, and made me a carb adapter like so:
It's not perfect, but it works.
intake manifold comparison:
And boom! holley 465 swap:
I finally got rid of the vacuum leaks and I'm getting it tuned decently. The car runs better than ever, I kid you not. Now if only I could manage my stupid belt squeak. I'm attempting to de-chrome my pulley in bleach, part of it is pitted now, so I might just need a bigger pulley for more surface area... preferably one that isn't chrome.

couple more pics of it from recent times
I also broke the front ring and pinion on this, and I'm putting a cage on it soon. Basically, this means distractions form the E21. I'm also injured too.
I was looking at this thread, and I can't believe it's been around a year since I fixed the frame rails on my car. I'm very happy with how that's holding up. no problems what so ever.

thanks man.
I forgot to post this, it sits a bit lower in the back, but this gives you an idea of what it's looking like these days.
I also lowered the seats 2". here's a pic of what I cut out:
mock up comparison:
I'm not sure where I put the pics of the bracketry welded back in, but it was tricky, and it does happen to work.
