Just got the new tank in. Looks to be in good shape. I did hit up all the seams with paint though just to make sure.
Now i just have to figure out how to get this drive shaft off. I removed all the heat shields but its got a collar around the flex disk and I have no idea how to get to the nuts on the back.Leave a comment:

Congratulations on discovering that wreckers are a lower form of life, somewhere under pond scum, vaginal slag and close to politicians. So I go to get that gas tank today. I called them yesterday and told them I was going to come get the tank.
I drove 40 miles to their yard and tell them I'm here for the tank. Guys like it'll be a few minutes. An hour and a half later he comes out and is like it'll be a few more minutes they've almost got it off. About 30 minutes later he comes out and says well we got it off and its bad. We don't have time to pull another one.
I left him my contact information for when he gets a good one off. I don't expect him to call me.
All wreckers need a dynamite enema.Leave a comment:

I like you.Oh man that made me chuckle!
Honestly you guys need to understand something, puting money into a car that only serves one purpose and doing it in small amounts over time is really the only way some of us can do things. I'm in the same boat as Soapy here. Yeah I could have "Saved" my $100 here and $200 dollars there but I live paycheck to paycheck at this point and if I don't spend it when I have it, it gets spent on other things that I NEED. It's a stupid way to do things and in the long run costs me more then if I would have done it "Right" in the first place; but with projects like these, some of the "Oh Shit"s are half of the fun.
Seriously, don't try and reeducate, don't hate, and dont look down on someone for doing something within thier means, just because its not how you would(n't) do it. Remember this is just a DD commuter for this kid to get back and forth to school. He doesn't need to do $2000 worth of body work. So what if the back doors can't be opened cuz they will fall off the hinges?
He just needs to make it safe and driveable so he can go to school, get that 6 figure a year salary job and then buy an old E30 M3 and restore it like we do here on R3V.
Help a brutha out, huh?
Keep at it Soapy!

Found a local yard with 5 of them for $50 each. The guy I talked to on the phone said 'just give me a holler and I'll get one of the boys to pull it for you'. Shit maybe I'll get him to install it as well.Leave a comment:

What really sucks is that most of what you just reinstalled has to come back out in order to remove the gas tank-at least I 'think' it does...someone correct me if I am wrong.
I think I would have been tempted to just light a match at that point and time and be done with it.
J/K Sorry couldn't help it! Keep up the perseverance.Leave a comment:
