(UPDATED 3/1: More Pics!) My Cheap CL E30 project car!
not a fan of the front spoiler/splitter on the e39 or the asa wheels.. it's a manual I hope?
Thanks!
No need to grey out your opinion, I've heard both sides before. Appreciate you being honest! The wheels I went with because the are fairly light and inexpensive and I wanted to run 275's at each corner. Plus I think they look pretty good! The splitters too are love them or hate them. They are definitely different but in person look great!
After. It has the Dinan CAI, MAF, TB intake manifold and Dinan Stage 5 s/w along with a res delete and Magnaflow muffler.
You were probably thinking it was the S3 package which is their S/C'ed version. I wish mine was but it only has the Stage 5 engine items (confusing I know, but the S3 package is inclusive of the Stage 5 items + the S/C system. Doesn't make a ton of sense...)
Hey there.. Welcome to R3V. The best place out there for anything E30 related. See you at the meet tommorrow to discuss spending more of your money on suspension!
Just thought I'd give a quick update on where the car is at.
I recently was finally able to get her fired up which was a GREAT feeling. My idiot self hadn't hooked up the plug wires correctly (they weren't marked on the dist. cap) and I didn't even think about it since I'm used to individual coils as on my E39. The only other issues are that I stripped the teeth on the bracket to tighten the alt/water pump belt, broke the check valve from the TB-brake booster and lost the right elbw fitting on the TB for the charcoal canister.
I still need to refresh the suspension, hit the car with more polish (PC hopefully),rebuild the shift linkage, sand down the top of the VC and manifold (to get silver on black), etc, etc. Hopefully I'll have her on the road soon! Couple random pics of the engine and body panels after 45 minutes with a $20 buffer from Walmart and some mild cleaner wax. A TON better than I ever thought it could be already...
what the first youtube link he posted, you can clearly see him rowing through the gears and rev matching :)
to the o/p that $250 project car is looking pretty sweet! are you going to track this or make it a daily?
Yep that was def. some rav matching on the 3-2's! 6 speed for sure...
Right now it will see mixed use. DD for a while but as I slowly rebuild her I will be putting in quality parts to make her competent on the track. I'm not looking to go spec E30 but somewhere where there is a compromise. More aggressive than my E39, but still streetable...
Alright it has been a while so I thought I'd throw an update on here.
Mechanically the car is running beautifully! The issues I had were partly due to my own error but since I've sorted them out the car has been GREAT! I've also replaced the driveshaft which made a word of difference, replaced ALL of the shift linkage and installed a Z3 shifter (SWEET) and have some new brakes waiting to be installed on the car!
The biggest thing that is getting me excited though is the potential for the paint on the car. A buddy of mine owns GlossHaus (which has some of the most incredible paint products I've ever seen http://www.glosshaus.com/start.php ) wanted to take a crack at the paint to see what he could to with it. Well he was at my place for just a short time and I think the pictures speak for themselves...
He is going to let me borrow all his equipment in exchange for photos of the car to advertise so hopefully within a month I will have the paint on the car looking pretty dang good.
