Please give us up to the minute updates on expenses for the wheel bolts, polishing, fuel for said truck, value of worn tires from driving to and from refinishing location, etc.

It's worth getting RSs refinished professionally. Polishing them is a thankless task.

I'll update with more details when Operation Redeaux BBS commences.

Yes, and my wheel refinisher guy has developed a clear powdercoat that only reduces the mirror gloss of the lips by 5% or so, in my estimation. This means no periodic polishing of the lips -- just wash 'em and go.

I'm thinking I'll go with a red LED like the one that's installed for the turn signal notification. I'll just slap a CHECK ENGINE label under it from a P-label printer.

By the way, Bob do you or Steve have any idea what kind of resonator this is?

I have no idea, it was Steve's originally. He's probaby out in the garage mahal sitting naked in his E24 in an effort to condition the cardinal leather. It might be a while before you get a response.

Oh by the way, the multi-quote feature ownz you. :)

Blunty, when you finish buttering your leather, could you please let me know if you remember what resonator is on there?

Bob, multi-quote is for suckers...it totally takes away from post count ;).

I've been way too busy to deal with it. The car is still in the garage, now covered with a nice thick layer of dust. I'm hoping to find the time to pull the transmission sometime this month or in early February.

My goal is to be ready for the February 20th autocross.

Sorry to hear about the flywheel. I can tell you that I used all new bolts when it was installed. I was at Blunt's garage at the time and using his tools, so its very likely that it was done half ass.

Blunt, Avi, and Mr. Stainless... you get the idea.

                          Ben -

When you drop the transmission, swap in longer bolts on the front subframe and lower it an inch. It makes life vastly easier and you don't have to disconnect anything to do it.

I was able to get at all the bellhousing bolts with just a wobble bar - it's WAY easier than the double u-joint method.

                            Cool, I might try that!

I have an engine hoist, so I typically just lift the front of the motor from the lift hook and undo the transmission crossmember to let the transmission rotate down a bit. It's always worked, but easier is better.

I've got a 36" impact extension, too, which makes a huge difference.

Hey hey, time for a quick update. Pulled the transmission a few weeks ago and found that, indeed, all 8 of the flywheel bolts on the UUC flywheel were backed out several turns. Not even finger tight.

The bolts themselves were fine, so I took everything apart, cleaned it all up, and put it all back together with green Loctite. A friend ran it for two days at the SDBMWCCA autocross earlier this month and it had no issues.

A few weeks ago I dropped the BBS RS 003s off at the wheel refinisher to have the lips polished and clear powdercoated and the bolts zinc plated. The centers were fine. The shorty center nuts are being repolished and clear powder coated, as well. Those should be done by the end of this week...

Next on the list is a new exhaust system utilizing the sweet high flow cat I bought, then a few more small tweaks and I'll get it smogged. It should be street legal in 2 or 3 years ;).
