Hahaha I guess you have a point there. Good work either way and trust me I know how it feels being a broke college kid trying to make some hp. I'm suprised you built a motor to start with but you'll be better off in the long run so props for doing what your doing.

Luckily I saved up alot of money before I lost my job, that was about 4 months ago, I've just been living off savings and building this since then.

I've been building engines a long time, first being a 2 stroke when I was in 5th grade. That being said, I've lost a bunch of motors to stupidity. I built a 2002 yz250f, lost it 25 minutes later. For some reason I used stainless exhaust valves on springs made for ti's. Valve floats, I loose about $1200 worth of engine. I'm not making any expensive mistakes on this one.

Well I live in New York, we have a house in Surfside Beach. I'm applying for BMW's internship for this summer, which I remember correctly is in your home town.

Thanks! You and me both, I'm like a kid on Christmas every time a new part comes in.

Thanks man, good to hear I can please the discerning r3v audience. I'm normally only in OT, so I think this is the most amount of praise I've seen in a single thread.

As for an update, I have every bolt in the engine, new, on the way. I hate using old crap, I retrace every hole, use red loctite on every one, and put a new bolt in. Also on the way is a 21x3x12 intercooler, ebay brand. I just got off the phone with the machinst, who promises that the head will be done in the next couple days (maybe tomorrow)

Alright so my motor hates me.

My machinist went to assemble my head today and noticed hairline cracks in 2 exhaust valves, and suggests replacing 2 pitted intake valves. I may end up going supertech.

              Why not Ferrea?

I'm pretty sure ferrea requires that you use their spirngs, retainers, and seats. I already have supertech everything but valves.

Thats a good reason not to go with them.

                    Update:

Head work is completed, just waiting on Supertech Valves to get here. I went with a radial cut, along with the work I did on the intake ports. I decided instead of just simply replacing the 4 damaged valves, to order inconel exhaust valves, and nitride intakes from maximum psi. The machinist stopped by my house today, uploaded some pics from his work. Enjoy

this is going to be a monster, even if it is going into an e36. someone will just have to wreck you so you can put it in the e30.

I'm just shooting for fastest possible spool, it's not going to be an obnoxiously high output. And hey I like my e36, mainly because I've changed out everything that sucks about them. Well everything except that damn window regulator.

Got a nice little package on my door step today from MaxPsi.

The machinist is picking these up today, hopefully I can get my head back in the next couple days, so I can start making some progress again.

Small update, finally got my ics titan head gasket from Maximum PSI. Gotta say it's got a bit of weight to it. Hopefully it's worth the wait.

                                Nickel for reference.
