    Very cool! I'm in the process of stuffing a LS1 into my e30 race car. We just got the motor mounts mostly mocked up this weekend. Gussets aside, they are ready for final welding.

    Will be interesting comparing your build to mine as we progress, although as a race car I expect there to be some differences - still should be interesting. I like the pan kickout! We were thinking about doing the same thing + adding an accusump.

      those mounts look really good. Im interested to see your build progress too. You should start a thread.

      What brake setup are you planning on running??

        I am using a Tilton 2 pedal/3MC setup:

        It clears the valve covers just fine on the LS1.

          I really like that steering link. Is that something you made or bought?

            The lower joint (black) is from Vorshlag BMW spline to 3/4"DD. The upper joint (silver) was purchased from Woodward Fab and it's 3/4" DD to whatever spline they used on their steering columns. The firewall bearing (minus adapter plate) and column are Woodward Fab.

            For BMW steering columns you could use 2x Vorshlag parts and some 3/4" DD (available at any race shop). Vorshlag also sells a complete shaft kit for their e36/LS1 swap but it has to be shortened so much I found it easier to just go with a generic DD shaft.

              Awesome! If I do another engine swap it will be an LSx something for sure!

                Fuck, I should have aquired one of those long ago. Why did you change to the woodward column?

                          the only reason anyone could hate on that is due to lack of skills or money to complete this swap. amazing job. also, i almost threw up at the color the first glance, now im starting to think the e12 i have would look great in it. hmmm ls1 e12 has a nice ring to it.

                          ps. i hate you on both accounts. {im just jealous}

                                Great thread - yet another subscriber. I'm in the process of building an LSx (L98) E30 too. :)

                                I have Garret and Steve's build CD - how close were your engine mounts to the ones on their plans? Did you go Corvette rubbers or E34?

                                I'm looking at doing a remote-mounted booster from a Toyota van under the dashboard, with the master cylinder in the engine bay - kinda like what hot rod guys often do. VH40 and VH44 are the boosters to look at IIRC

                                From what I've seen under there you don't need to do much at all to fit a T56 (which is a fuggin' huge gearbox). Garret had to dremel off some of the lugs on the side of the T56 and hammer a couple of small humps out.
