    1991 318is

I picked up this 318is a couple weeks ago. It drove like hell bringing it home. but it did run. Needed new tie rods, wheel bearings asap.

finally made it to its new home

good body. Absolutely 0 rust. mechanically sound (motor wise). the interior was gross.

Advance autoparts racing seats and shift knob

    yum

random wires for who knows what. one of the past owners must have had some sort of system in it

smelled like a dog/cat/cow/ and dying chickens

even after cleaning, scrubbing, rubbing, steaming, and chemicals that made everyone dizzy. I decided i just didnt want to go in this direction. and didnt wanna start out this interior with crap

cleaned a little bit. started to show white

I got carpet from a guy on here. Should be getting it around wednesday.

since I decided to change the carpet, needed front and rear seats. i decided to do a full black interior swap

started on the underside while waiting on interior

    car seems pretty clean

    new parts

rotors, pads, wheel bearing, and temporary springs until i can find myself some coilovers

    some stock bottle caps

clean, sanded, and sprayed (again, temp until i find myself a suspension and wheels)

car came with some 17's that i had sold to a local guy

moved on to the motor bay

oil on a couple spark plugs

doesnt look bad to me... but i honeslty not 100% sure what to look for
    before:

    after:

all gaskets have been replaced, spark plugs, bolts, etc, etc. I will be media blasting the valve cover and intake manifold tomorrow, then spraying them

nothing fancy as of yet. basic stuff. Will be putting everything back together this week.

also picked these up today. I could not find any black sport seats that i was interested in. (for less than $500+ shipping on ebay...)

these were local and a good deal

    updates randomly!

comments are welcome, good and bad. this is the first time i do something like this. so help would be great

media blasted, painted, and started to sand/polish

put the valve cover back on. new gaskets set

          of course...

will post cleaner pics later once intake manifold is on...

new parts for dealing with coolant hoses.. all oem. All parts i am using are either oem or good world pac quality. Im not sure how i feel about getting hoses, and gaskets from advance auto parts. but i could be wrong, just personal preference

          more later tonight hopefully...

You have definitely done your homework! Make sure you check out those oil pan bolts by the oil pump!

Any pics of the "new" carpet? How are the cam gears lookin?

Nice work. If you ever want to make life a little easier for yourself when cleaning gummed up engines, throw a small amount (30-50ml) of diesel in the rocker cover, run the engine at idle or low-rpm (under 2000rpm) and then change the oil out. Will clean it up very nicely.

carpet will be here tomorrow. all bolts were tight, the car honestly, even though it was a little riced out, doesnt seem like it was beat whatso ever. cam gears seemed good...

aside from gunk and nasty crap everywhere. its pretty sound

quick pic until i get more cleaned up under the hood
