That was the original plan. I've communicated with the guys at the BMW Club Mülheim-Ruhr to register for their annual Internationaler BMW Fahrerlehrgang auf dem Nürburgring school in late August. Everything seemed OK. But then I got this message:
Due to management difficulties at the Nürburgring, this year's three-day driving school in August, the 49th Internationaler Fahrerlehrgang auf dem Nürburgring, HAS BEEN CANCELLED. The event will hopefully be re-instated in its normal format at its normal time in 2012. We apologize for the disappointment and any inconvenience this might cause.

That's super lame! There are quite a few nice 190 race cars and street cars that were at the dtm revival in 09, im sure you would have a blast!
I'm not too crazy about the color of the seats (I wanted black). But they're light, FIA-approved, and I got a good deal on them locally. They cleaned up pretty nicely: took them apart; checked for cracks; thoroughly cleaned the covers; and put them back together. Now they don't look half bad.
What's the name on that fuel injection type? L Jetronic or something like that? How long last often that system before needs replace (and I bet is $$$$) ? Just curious.
Also, the DTM version ran Alpha N and electronic injectors? If so, I don't get it, why would Merc put mechanical injection in their production car and electronic injection in their DTM cars unlike BMW did with both race & street models using the know stuff.
Very cool project. Few of those 16v doen here, few US and other euro specs. Now that I remember, years back someone offered one of these cars to my dad for cheap, but he refused in the end because of the mechanical inj. system that is often very expensive, just like the e21 323i.

The race cars ran EFI and multiple throttle bodies, but the street cars were stuck with CIS and a single flapper throttle. The engines were also seriously detuned in street trim. All of this was to increase engine life and make the car more refined on the street, in keeping with Mercedes-Benz family values.
Thanks for the info. I heared that these Cosworth heads were much more "agressive" design, like it flows quite more than the counterpart, the S14 engine.
