A friend of mine offered me his new alternator in trade for some work on his e30 and i agreed.
An alternator going out can leave you stranded with little warning,
my car doesn't have a volt meter gauge so i would not get a heads up on the alternator going out.
old
old vs new
new belt
all new hardware
bracket with all new teeth
tyler took the greasy shot of wrestling in the alternator.
all buttoned up

Also, wondering if you could maybe take a few pictures, up close, of the straps and mounting hardware so I can maybe get a better idea when I take her off and try to re-mount her nice and tight. thanks iwantspeed!

My next installment...
I purchased my car with a rotted out exhaust,
I was okay with that, since its a common e30 problem for its age.
now to choose an exhaust,
I like things that are OEM plus that little bit extra.
all the straight pipped and cat deletes and magnaflow stuff doesn't do it for me.
I narrowed it down to remus exhaust after doing some research.
I had my eyes set on a remus catback exhaust for the longest time, but wanted to have the opportunity to listen to it in person before spending the cash on it.
In June Performance BMW one of the staff rides section
Tony a photographer had a small article on getting a remus exhaust for his 4 door Lachssilber e30.
But, in the article he discussed that the exhaust required some massaging to gain extra clearance.
this kinda put me standoff ish.
At the B.I.G euro show in Los Angeles the car in the article was at the show and had the opportunity to meet Tony.
Nice guy,
I asked him if it was the same car as in the article and he said yes.
I asked him in regards to his exhaust and what was necessary to get it fitted and he explained. he r3ved it for me and also allowed me to sit inside the car with the windows rolled up to see how loud it was in the cabin. I was pretty happy with it, and glad I had the opportunity to see.
perfect loudness for what i was looking for.
- the closest remus retailer for me was a shop called like max speed something like that and they where located in northern california, i spoke with the owner and the exhaust that they offer for the e30 where only 2, a 76mm tip and 90mm tip
- the 90mm tips catback where in stock and the 76mm where a special order item.
- the 90mm tips being more that 3.5inches in diameter look tottaly out of place on a small car, they look out of proprtion to the rest of the car.
- the 76 mm tips (a hair under 3 inches) still are pretty large but more acceptable.
he said to get a 76mm tip catback you had to pay in full and wait until remus got a batch of minimum of 7 exhaust to begin production of your exhaust.
at 789 retail plus 60 to ship and the possibility of having to wait 1-3 or more months for your exhuast. i had to look for other options.
_
I was at a near by e30 shop in Huntington Beach when I noticed an exhaust shop right next door. Stromung exhaust, hymm. I remember there being a group buy for Stromung exhaust a few months back so i asked if i could look around. Scott there was very nice and showed me around. and found out that they still had exhaust for e30's
I put a order in and received a unit.

slanted tips
rusted out muffler
soaked the nuts in penetrating oil
old exhaust off
new hardware
old vs new
flanges bolt up perfect
it fits the cutout in the stock valance perfectly even, flat, and centered, which i was very pleased with
nice fitment and proportion.
i like this picture because i have changed the bumper trim to euro trim, have added a euro plate filler, the tails went
from all red's to sanded down the ambers to stock to mint condition stock tails off another car and now the addition
of the exhaust and the teaser of the next addition to the car(in this general area)
