    I have done it.

    It is in.

Here's what I had to do.

    - Modify the rear subframe as pictured above.
    - Lathe the rear coupler down, 3/8".
    - Purchase 6 8mm M10x1.5 allen bolts, 1/4" shorter than the 6 that are supplied.

    Voila, it is in.

At this point you can own a car with a driveshaft that is far more capable than the car will most likely ever be.

Raul, thanks for the compliments man! And yes, it was modified to fit the massive CV and hardware inside of it.

    Update!

Got the subframe installed easily, and the CV fits in the rear subframe without issue.

Bad news though. The driveshaft is 3/8 of an inch too long. So the flange at the diff is going to have to be milled down to allow the shaft to fit.

More updates will be posted after the flange is modified for fitment.

Mike keep the up dates coming. The rear subframe is really modified? Is it because of drive shaft?

I've been following this thread for a very long time, I never registered until just now because I just want to say this build is amazing.

We have very similar cars. I also have an OBD1 S52 with many of the same suspension setup you have. No cage.. but I have the same supercharger kit (not installed yet) and also plan on putting my 2.93 back in the car after the SC install.

My only issue is the tune, TRM wants $650, AA is unresponsive for anything.

AND I also just started running 225's and finally am glad to leave the stretch tires behind.

Check your PM's.. if you still have that SC tune from TRM i'de like to buy it.

    Thanks !

The modified subframe has been returned!

This is just about the least amount of material that can be removed in order for proper fitment with this driveshaft. Disclaimer, I have the 12mm subframe spacers due to my subframe bushing kit. If you do not have this, a lot more material will need to be removed from the top.

Next step is install. Here's to hoping the exhaust has no interference with this driveshaft either!

Rear subframe has been sectioned at the top and bottom where it was interfering with the massive 108mm CV and its hardware. (I forgot to take a picture like a newb).

I dropped it off at 316 Motorwerks this afternoon. Owner said it wouldn't take too long to box and reinforce. I gave him the diff and the driveshaft to ensure proper clearance as he welded it up.

Hoping to have it back by mid next week, and have it all back together by next Friday so I can rip up the mountain road I always take my R6 up. Not expecting to match times up the hill, but I definitely want to enjoy the drive and its uniqueness.

    Stay tuned to updates.

P.S. oh I picked up a Walbro 255 fuel pump. Big things are in the foreseeable future.

More updates are here! A part recently arrived at my door. Very expensive and very heavy!

After unboxing, I was mesmerized by this.

Allow me to introduce it. The Driveshaft Shops 1 piece driveshaft for the 95-99 E36 M3. Balanced to 9500 rpm's, it weighs in at 30lbs and is capable of withstanding very high hp numbers.

Here is it with the stock driveshaft used by most with the ZF in their E30s. Custom adapters bolt to the output and input flanges of the tranny and diff. Driveshaft then bolts to those adapters.

If anyone was curious as to the ultimate direction of my E30, let this piece be a hint. Loads of power are in its future. Simply one more step to getting it ready.

The CV at the diff end is gorgeous, but it is also large. Too large in fact, for the oval hole of the rear subframe.

Emails are being sent to a local rally shop who has done small welding work for me before. The plan is to cut and remove the bottom half of the oval, and have a more square box welded in its place. Looking for roughly 1 more inch of clearance for fitment.

I will keep you all posted on the subframe modifications just in case anyone wants to go the same route I am going.

Stance and drivability have increased ten fold.

Haven't been spending as much time in the E30 due to finals and work, but it sure does look purdy in the garage.

Here is a picture I snapped real quick.

Working on a GoPro Hero 3+ mounting and microphone placement to avoid a nasty annoying fuel pump noise while I am filming my drive. As soon as I get it worked out I will do my best to post some videos.

Thanks again for all the compliments. More and more work will be done in the future!
