Thanks!
I look back on this build and feel lots of emotions. I really wish I had the opportunity to do things a bit different/better. But that's a by product of working on it in a parking lot, and having very little money to spend on the build.
Some good news though, I did talk with the guy who bought the car last year. It is still in great shape and he has been thoroughly enjoying it on the back roads of the east coast. He also took it into a race shop and they did a good once over of the car.
Glad to hear its been taken care of. I'll upload some pictures when he sends them to me.Leave a comment:

This thread is dead unfortunately. The car was sold a couple months ago to a young guy on the east coast. He hasn't posted anything here, and he didn't seem fond of the internet and build threads, etc. so I doubt any of us will ever hear about this car ever again.
I will say that I don't think I am done with E30s. So there may be another thread of this caliber in the future. Only time will tell.

It was the alternator, which was the cheaper of the two possible replacements. E30 is running like a charm.
D4C 2015 is just 3 days away. I am prepping the AZ caravan stuff, since I will be leading the caravan from AZ into Pagosa Springs.
Stoked!

Great thread! With reference to no AC, my R12 system finally gave up the ghost by blowing out the suction hose and compressor eating itself. Passenger compartment gets up to 120 in the Texas heat. While waiting for parts, I use a frozen water bottle under the legs. It definitely takes the edge off.Leave a comment:

1 week before I depart on my roughly 1000 mile road trip, my E30 has finally failed to get me to where I needed to go. This is a first, even with its discrepancies over the years, that it hasn't got me to my destination.
Radio shut off on the freeway, and car started running poorly on my street. Finally wouldn't go anymore.
No juice in the battery. Battery is an Optima Redtop, but it is years old. Charging it now to check if its the alternator or the battery.
Towed the E30 the last 3/4 mile home with the muddy XJ.
Until tomorrow!

Damn I have been out of the forums for wayyy too long.
Anywho, the E30 is still the same as it was after the driveshaft update.
I have been finishing up school, and the class schedule is intense. About to enter my final year in about a month.
This summer I have been down in Phoenix (still living in Flagstaff, roughly 2 hours away) doing an engineering internship, and the E30 has been pulling daily driver duties, without AC, in this hot ass hellhole. I get a bunch of funny looks in it as I am sitting in traffic. Been putting lots and lots of miles on it driving everywhere all summer, and even with all of its fuhraze racecar parts, it is still as reliable as ever.
I don't have any real updates planned for quite some time. Car gets stored in the winter, so I pay little attention to it. All of the stress associated with finishing school and moving out into the world has me keeping a tighter eye on the pennies I earn. Though, it may receive the GC 5-lug swap coilover setup that they offer, sometime around their black Friday sale.
On a positive note, I have registered for the Drive 4 Corners meet this August, and am itching to go and visit Colorado for a few days. The car will receive some temporary character updates in order to do what it does best. Stand out in a crowd.
Will post pictures sometime mid August for everyone interested.
P.S. The boost seeking is still in my mind, but in reality it is probably about 2 years away, as I want to do it much much better this time around.

do you still have your "paperweight" laying around? lolThere's a guy who rebuilds rotrex superchargers.

There's a guy who rebuilds rotrex superchargers. But if the output shaft broke, it'll be pricey.
