yeah, but since hes adding boost it would be a great idea.
The 318 subframes are known to crack/rust alot more than the 325 subframes for some reason..

Tru dat, I forgot about the FI and didn't know 4-banger subs are prone to cracks.

The 4 banger subframes will be prone to cracking because they have a harsh vibrating little piece of shit 4 cylinder sitting on them and not a silkly smooth inline 6 :)

in anycase I would be reinforcing any subframe that is going under a boosted M5x

Thats one thing I forgot to do when I had my engine out last. Might come back to haunt me.

My last s52 car I had plates machined out of 1/2" plate and welded them in.
            Like white said.

When I built the S52 car, I had the Turner kit welded in then had it blasted and powdercoated.

Does the turbo and associated plumbing add that much weight?

Aren't the tires going to break loose before the drivetrain twists the front subframe? Unless of course you're running serious rubber at the drive wheels.

I bent the subframe tabs in 5k miles with my NA s52. I pulled the motor and reinforced it and it was fine after that.

Have you ever really looked at the front subframe motor mount plates? They are not very strong. Any time I have a motor out I always weld around the whole thing and then add a plate on the bottom.
I would rather be safe than sorry and have the mount break off
