Well I got a little work done this weekend. Wish I could of got more but its been crazy busy.
Here are a few pics of the progress.
Me and my bro in law got the Rad out and AC condencer. There was a little pressure still in the system when the line poped off it woke up the wasps..... that was fun.
Went and got a spring compressor this weekend.... I rocked the Autozone free rental!
No they have been around for a while now. They hold a good amount of TQ, I hear you just have to be watch how much heat builds up. There is a guy on the E28 forum with a turbo M30 putting down 400+ lbft for over two years on the same clutch as I have.
Did not get much done today but I have a pretty cool story. I was not able to get the strut insert to budge so I took them to a Mexican auto shop (no really the name of the shop is Latino Auto Service) down the street from my brother in laws house. The guys made quick work of the struts and the wheel bearings. I asked how much up front but they really didnt say. So when they where all done I ask again how much, he said "oh just get us some soda". Soda!........ I went and got the guy 4 two-liters. That was very cool of them!
7-5 Update
Been working on getting the motor ready to pull. Today I worked on disconnecting what I could get to from the top. I still need to pull the fuel lines and the and one or two other things. While I was working up top I took out a few unneeded brackets. Working from the bottom, I pulled the sway bar and mounts. Also unbolted the motor mounts while I was at it.
My buddy Brian aka "boostdog" has this week off and he is going to try to get some stuff done while Im slaving for the man. You the man B!
Here is a shot of the motor from today...... slow be Im getting there!
More of the same...
PB Blasted the hell out of the collector. Still could not get them to budge.
To do's for this week... Pull the rest of the lines from the eng bay, get the exhaust off, drop the drive shaft and tranny cross member. I want to get this Weibchen out!
7-12 Update
Well today was a big day for the project. We got the motor out! Thanks B and Cooper. I also pick up air tools today, this is going to make it some much better.
Well it's been hot as hell here in Arkansas. It's seems between work and the weather not much has been done on the project.
The rear end was a bitch to get out. We spent two nights working on this. We got it but one bolt on the passanger side half shaft would not come out. The bolt got rounded so I had to bust out the grinder.
Beat the carp out of the firewall in prep for dropping the motor in.
My brother in law got the water pump and a few other things put on the motor. Slow but we are moving.
