        July 10 update.

Haven't been taking any pictures but I finished replacing the rear rotors and car is back on the ground.

I will go out and hook up the tie rods and the steering linkage and get ready to put this m50 into the car!

Tomorrow will be hooking up the flywheel, clutch, and tranny. Then sunday will be dropping the motor into the chassis...

That is if the weather doesn't have different plans! No more rain dance.

        Pics to come.

Okay so it have been a few days since I updated. I had to wait to receive my front brake lines and tie rod ends to complete the front of the car. So FINALLY, I can get back to the main project and drop the motor in.

So while I still have some cloud coverage I am going to push the car into the center of my yard to rinse it off/spray out the bay before the m50 gets put in.

I still need to take the engine off the stand to start attaching the flywheel/starter/clutch and transmission. I will work as much as possible today before the heat completely kicks my arse. Its already about 100 degrees but its not bad with clouds.

Here are a few pics of the mornings progress.

New line on. (also got some bleeder screw caps cus mine were toast)

          Old tie rod end off.

          New one on.

Did the same to both sides. Lines, caps, and tie rod ends.

Also sprayed my bike off, someones coming to look at her today, I hate to give up my other hobby but no time and need the money right now :(.

          Will be posting more later.

Yesterday I sprayed her off just to remind myself there is some shine in that thing still!

Today I still be cleaning off the 260 and attaching it to the motor, pics to follow.

                  July 18

Lowered the engine off the stand the other day to test fit the flywheel, of course it had to be machined down.

So I took it and my brake booster to my buddy Mitch for some custom fab and machining of these parts.

Got the parts back last night so started early this morning. Got the booster installed as well.

Got the flywheel installed and properly torqued.

Then installed the pressure plate and clutch.

While I was in Ace hardware I saw my new DD...

So progress for the day is slowing since the heat is rising. Hope to have the tranny attached by the end of the night.

No helpings hands is also prolonging the project! Its all good though, I got this.

End of the day update. Not much else done since earlier but was running around all day, went to Ace about 3 times a couple visits to autozone.

Anyways, got the transmission attached to the motor.

Then I worked of filing the slot for the tranny mount part on the transmission itself to fit the e21 mounts.

At the same time I decided to paint the tranny brace as well.

So, in the morning I need to mark up the brace and drill all the holes. Then install the engine mount arms and busings and get ready to drop the motor. Hoping its tomorrow! We will see.

nice work, if that booster is unpainted (like how most rebuilt units come) throw a layer of paint on it otherwise its gonna get surface rust supper quick!

Mid day update for July 19

Went to Ace again today with a list of bolts/washers/nuts/etc. for misc things.

Also had to make a trip to my fathers house to borrow his corded drill, and to Lowes to buy some drillbits for drilling metal. Ended up breaking a small one but I figured that would happen.

Started working on the tranny brace and got that installed. I looks like it is a couple degrees off but I cant fix it.. just gonna have to deal with it.

Its going to need to be painted again but I am not worried about that now.

Then I installed the starter and the mounting arms. I am going to be using E28 M5 engine mounts.

Since the front of my house faces west I am going to wait until the sun lowers a bit to allow at least the front end of my car to be shaded by my porch cover. I will spray out the bay again maybe scrub it a little before I drop the motor in.

                          Pics will be up later.

Update for the end of July 19

Didnt drop the motor as planned, got to side tracked by prepping everything, but at least I am taking my time and will minimize my "should have done that before I dropped it in" list.

So I cleaned out the bay real quick, nothing to crazy I didnt wanna spend all day doing it. Just about a 20 min scrub. While I was doing it I didnt see much of a difference until I looked at the pics.

Not much of a difference, but cleaner.

Then I took some time to attach the e34 throttle cable. Also attached a new slave cylinder hose since I accidentally bent the crap out of mine, however, it needed to be replaced anyways. Then, I searched for my e34 dipstick to make sure I still had it and it didnt get thrown away by accident.

Modified my power steering hose to the proper length for the m50. I have an m50 one but it is covered in oil so I am assuming it has a leak.

Then I cleaned the power steering resivoir and bracket.

Here was a pic I took for fun. e30 staring down the m50.

So I am pretty sure I am ready to drop this thing. I was wanting to do it tonight however it got dark and I could use an extra set of hands which will be able to help me tomorrow. So in the morning the motor should and hopefully will be in.

Tired as hell, its been a long day.
