Because 3 was barely enough to keep the mount from moving around. When the third one sheared, two were definitely not strong enough to keep it together, so it flopped around even more, which sheared the second to last one. When one was left, it snapped in about a day because it alone couldn't hold up the rest of the motor.

Weekend. Did work!

First, I got a 90 degree drill attachment, an EZ-out kit, and a T-handle tap driver. A buddy came over and helped me out, and we managed to get three of the four snapped bolts out of my block. Jacked up the motor, put in a new motor mount arm, applied loctite to the three screws we could use, and tightened it down. 75% of my weird engine noises are now gone.

Also at this time I installed a convertible front sway bar. The size difference is pretty small (20 vs. 22mm), but eh, I got it for cheap, why not put it on. Also, swapped out rear sway links for new ones.



Today, I pulled my cluster, and resoldered every connection. Now, my cluster lights work without having to hit the dash, which is awesome. I also installed a 7K tach (I'll need it in the future :o), and replaced my Motometer speedo/odo with a VDO unit that didn't have messed up gears. The speedometer part works fine, but the odometer is nonfunctional :(
