I would probably do the v-bands at the headers. No sense in redoing it again right later. Do it right, right now. Its not like you are doing it at the catback too (stock e36 clamps, right?).sigpicComment

I'm using ebay headers to OEM OBDI S50 midpipes and exhaust all the way back so yes, it will be dual pipe.
Again, this also isn't the car's permanent exhaust system. I got all the M3 exhaust stuff for cheap, so it was the temporary solution to get the car running asap on the cheap.

Well, I manged to get something done after the uber-fun task of swapping my coolant hoses on the firewall to the core, made a little bracket for my intake:
All I have to do now is get the exhaust welded up, and I can actually drive it. Just need the time.Comment

^^ Clever use of a motorcycle muffler clamp. Can i suggest you paint your homemade 90 degree bracket low gloss (semi-flat) black ? Your bay looks remarkably factory and that piece looks a little out of place.Last edited by LJ851; 05-28-2011, 05:04 AM.Comment

What do you recommend, just welded all the way back? I mean, I don't anticipate having to drop the exhaust very often, and even if I did, it can always just be cut and re-welded. And it would only be one piece back to where the S50 midpipes meet the rest of the S50 exhaust section.Comment

Well, I was going to just use the stock E36 M3 stuff all the way back including the muffler, but I'm ditching the M3 can and going with this instead:
Free Shipping - MagnaFlow Performance Mufflers with qualifying orders of $109. Shop Mufflers at Summit Racing.
That M3 muffler is just too damn big and heavy, and I know it's going to hang down way below the rear apron. Still going to use the M3 midpipes/cats and piping back to it, but I can get this muffler for pretty cheap, and it sounds great. That's an E36 328i in the video, so it should sound pretty similar.Comment
