I never said anything about polished faces. You've got thousands of colors to choose from, and you can choose a different color for the faces and the lips if that's your thing.

At least consider doing the faces in a color with black lips (just not body-colored please). That way you'll still get the chrome bolts against the black.

ive never seen black lips on an RS mounted, but i have to assume it would almost blend with the tire really dwarfing the appearance of the wheel. i can imagine from a distance youll only see the face making it look like you have giant side wall.

im all for doing something different, but when working with such a "classic" wheel theres a reason that so many of them are polished... its because thats how they look best. you can be different for differents sake, but going all black will destroy a beautiful wheel IMO.

I was planning on matte finish, so it would have a contrast against the tires. What I was hoping for mainly was the chrome bolts to break it down. Along with the chrome flat cap in the center, I think it would tie together very well. Black rims and purple car look sick together IMO.

I guess your tires pretty glossy?

Matte will blend into the matte appearance of the tires.

Not saying gold would not look awesome. I just like silver better, that's all. Thanks for the pictures though! The gloss black is very classy. I had something in the back of my mind from searching the VW sites. They do an oil effect to the lips, I think that would be amazing with the gloss black centers.

I just don't know if it is some other type of paint or it can be done with PC. The color is like when you spill oil in a puddle, it has that rainbow of dark colors. I think it is a rattle can paint of sorts.

It is that effect but it was black. Some VW guy had it at a show last year. I am looking for that but in back through and through. I will have answers by the end of today, a buddy of mine runs a custom painting shop. He attends h2o and would give me a great deal of info on how to do what I saw.

a friend of mine tried black on black rs with gold nuts. It may work, but each to his own. I'm btw also building myself som 17" rs now, but I'm going for the more regular look with polished lips and painted centers with a non gold, black- or silver paint. So it'll be a little different, but only the centers :)

Called the powdercoater over the phone it is 60 per rim. When i got there and showed him what I wanted: lip, face center cap. Less than half a rim...70 DOLLARS a rim. Shit wad.

I have been thinking about making a set of RS reps in this scheme for my laguna green vert. Still have not decided yet though.

I'd have to agree with Yan. Ive always been a fan of all black RS's. They should turn out good either way.
