Wasn't implying any kind of comparison--your build is obviously a one of a kind and I'm following it with anticipation. The fact that you're also older and wiser makes it all the more interesting Garey. I'll be 51 in November and still happily wrenching away on both my E30's. It keeps us young.
I gotcha, couldn't really tell the tone of your post and I wasn't being snotty in my reply, just trying to underline the differences. Glad to see another "oldtimer" still wrenching on their E30s. I always wanted an E30 M3, but wasn't willing to spend the cash to acquire one, so this was my solution, Lol!
Thanks for the reply,
Got a little more done on the exhaust system tonight. Almost finished now...
I have to place the hangers, send the pipes out the back, then tear it back apart finish weld it all and send the whole thing out to be ceramic coated. One more item checked off the list...
That's a seriously sweet muffler placement Garey! I'm glad you didn't do something half-hearted like pipes out the sides.. This is perfect.
Lol! Pipes out the side... Nah, not me. I've seen a few E30s with the pipes out the side and that's cool and all, but I envisioned the muffler placement a year ago and couldn't wait to get to the point in the build where I could actually fab the exhaust and make it happen... woot! Thanks man, I appreciate your compliment!
That is an awesome idea! I love it. Your attention to detail throughout this entire build has been phenomenal. I am beyond impressed.
Thanks man, it's easier when you start with a blank canvas and think about how you would have done it. You can add little things and details that not only make it better, but also your own. I'm excited to get this thing done, so I can drive it and people can see it in person, not just pictures on the internet. It's a lot of work, but it's cool when an idea you had more than a year ago, starts to come together...
That is beautiful. What type of mufflers are they?
Thanks... They're Magnaflows...14210, I think. There are only a couple of this type of muffler available. Magnaflow is one and there is another universal style, with 3 holes in each end and it comes with 4 block off plates, so you can configure it how ever you need. I think the brand is Big Boar, IIRC. These worked perfectly for the given space...

Garey
This style of muffler is used in the 911 world as well. I think flowmaster has one too and i have heard the fitment is for a newish Roush Mustang. Nice work Garey.

Yeah, I had heard about the late model Mustang fitment, as well. I had forgotten about the 911 fitment, though. Thanks :)
