Did you ever figure what to do about the manifold? Modify for the M62? Also FWIW, I have a Jackson Racing supercharger on my SVT Focus, uses an M62 and has been absolutely trouble free for 98K miles. The Miata kits are fortunate enough to be able to use an intercooler where as I can't so I get some pretty bad heat soak in the real hot summer.91 318is M50 swapped

Yeah, my friend and I looked into a bunch of options, and we're going to have to fabricate something.Did you ever figure what to do about the manifold? Modify for the M62? We were originally going to be doing a plenum over the valve cover, and have the intake piping doing a gradual 180* bend, but clearances were so tight, we abandoned it, even though the flow tests were seriously good on it.
Current plan is a small plenum that will fit around where the stock intake manifold is, but will take up less room overall, weigh less, and should allow us to tuck the supercharger under it.
I went to Pick-n-pull to grab a throttle body to help mock-up the new plenum, but the fuckers wanted $65 for it, so I bailed.
Hopefully I'll have some big updates soon, goal is still 9/4/11. :D

Gotta agree with DJ, turbo is better...and I have AC. 8). Excited to see the progress, seems like there are a lot of people who start an M42 build and never finish. And good call on the preventative HG; mine just blew under only 7.5 psi, quarter mil on the engine, which had never been apart. Wish I'd have known you needed an MLS; I think I have a .140 from VAC in my basement...
btw ygpm about the MS tune. too bad I'm all the way across teh fucking nation so I can't see all the boosted M42's running around in cali.Comment

Yeah yeah, but you guys don't make supercharger noises, so there's always that.
I think a lot of people bail on the M42 because of its costs, redoing the timing components wasn't super cheap, tbh.
Damn, I would have much rather gotten the MLS from you. I had to wait around a month for it from VAC, was kind of a headache.
YGPM back about the MS stuff, thanks again man.

Quick post that has nothing to do with my car.
My friend owns a bodyshop, and he had a rolled E39 M5 come in, he was able to get it for $33. The only part on the car that wasn't fucked like a Taiwanese pretty-boy was the engine/driveline.
So, here's a picture of his $33 S62. He's thinking of putting it in one of his E36s, but I said he should sell it, buy an LS1, and gimmie the 6spd from the S62. :p

Fucking fuck.
But something to do with my car, materials for the intake have arrived!
